I do a quarterly gathering with my church sisters to celebrate the birthdays for the quarter and catch up. We try to explore a place most, if not all of us, have been to before as well as in different parts of the DMV, which led us to The Breakfast Club.

This is a quaint, black owned restaurant in Silver Spring. It is definitely a vibe. The hospitality, welcoming and friendliness exudes throughout the entire restaurant. The music was just loud and diverse enough to keep you rocking/ bouncing in your seat while waiting for your food, but not preventing you from hearing and conversing. It is small, so the noise level of others is actually louder than the music.

We had the chicken and French toast country veggie hash and The Collegiate. The portions are huge. Huge doesn't always equate to tasty, but the food didn't disappoint. There were a few downsides. The biggest downside is that many common breakfast items like toast and bacon aren't part of the meal and are a la carte. The other is they are cashless, so they automatically charge 3% to use a card as well as 18% gratuity. The automatic charges are a disservice to all. It opens the door to subpar service, though that wasn't our situation as Natè was very attentive, but when customers are used to paying 20%+ to be automatically charged makes one resistant to give more even if the service deserves it.

My party of 4 gave the food a 7 out of 10. The chicken thighs were crispy, but one piece of the French toast was burnt. The country hash was a bowl of potatoes with sprinkles and I do mean sprinkles of spinach and veggie sausage, like 2-3 wilted spinach leaves and 1/2 veggie sausage patty broken up and the oxtail in the Collegiate was seasoned well, but the ladies would have preferred 2 eggs and less potatoes.

If I'm in Silver Spring or if friends want to go, then I would go back.

Beware the “happy hour.” The food listed on the happy hour menu in the restaurant is not available and the pricing of regular drinks during happy hour is unclear. The food was decent and gratuity, as well as a percentage for using a credit card, is added to the bill. There are other places to go that are more transparent with pricing and with tastier food. The tiles on the floor are very nice.

The food was AMAZING!!! Great taste and quantity. Went to celebrate my birthday but the Service was non existent for us this afternoon. Our waitress was distracted from the first encounter and didn’t have time to wait on us. So no cute birthday dessert to show!!!

This wasn't a great experience. The food took long, my omelette had uncooked bacon in it, the pancakes were hard and too thick. The manager was too busy to come and speak to us. 0/10 don't recommend.

The food and service was below mediocre. We ordered blueberry pancakes with only 5 blueberries on top. We asked prior if they were inside and the server responded yes. Once the pancakes came out plain the server said maybe its just the cook. Which is weird because wouldn't the spec be the same no matter who is working.

He saw we were visible dissatisfied and instead of comping a meal that we didn't even touch , instead offered shots in which my husband doesn’t drink.

There was no possibility of even talking to the manager. We noticed that she was sitting in her car parking outside. Green outfit inside black benz SUV.

I came once before for a party so I wanted to introduce the establishment to others but please save your money. Took 20mins for the pancakes then another 20mins for the grits. He waited until my food came to eat so then his was cold. I understand they both more than likely came from two different stations however this experience on a slow day was a lack of attention to details. The team was just going through the motions. Really disappointing to spend our hard earned money here.

Me and husband came here for brunch on Sunday, we put our names on the list and he said it would be an hour and half wait he took our phone number down. So we 2 hours later we decided to say something to the host. He clearly didn’t care and was acting all nonchalant like it wasn’t a big deal we were waiting. He then says he has a table coming up, 15 mins later he comes back up and says we can sit at the bar when someone gets up. That was so frustrating because we were in our way back to NJ and wanted to check the place out, only to be disappointed. Will never go or recommend this place again.

Amazing Amanda

The breakfast Club has really good food and drinks. If you go on the right day, you can get seating otherwise I’d highly recommend having a reservation. The first time I went it was hard to get seating even at the bar. We waited for a while, but it was worth the wait because the oxtails were amazing. The macaroni and cheese were really good but very rich.

The Worst Lamb Chops Ever

I recently dined at the Breakfast Club in Silver Spring, Maryland with high hopes, particularly excited to try their lamb chops again, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While the waiter, Nebyou provided excellent service—attentive, friendly, and eager to ensure we had everything we needed—the same cannot be said for the management and the head chef.

The lamb chops arrived looking promising, but that was where the excitement ended. The meat was tough and overcooked, lacking the tenderness and flavor one would expect from a well-prepared dish. Instead of the succulent, juicy lamb chops, I had anticipated. The Lamb Chops came from the land of Tuff and Stuff I was met with a dry, flavorless pieces of meat that left much to be desired. It was as if the chef had forgotten the most basic principles of cooking lamb. It's disappointing to see such potential squandered in the kitchen when the hostesses and waiters are doing their best to make guests feel welcome.

I believe that a restaurant's management and culinary team should take pride in the food they serve, and in this case, they should be ashamed. With such a lack of attention to the quality of the meat being served, I cannot recommend The Breakfast Club for their lamb chops. If you're looking for a dining experience that delivers on both service and food quality, I suggest looking elsewhere. Papi’s is a better choice for Lamb Chops.

I’m really disappointed in my experience here. I heard such great things from friends and via TikTok, that I thought it was going to be amazing.

We went here on a Saturday and had a brunch reservation. They called us 20 minutes before our reservation to confirm that we were still coming. We were already in route and arrived 10 minutes early. We were not seated until 20 minutes AFTER our reservation time (mind you, they called to confirm that we were coming, as if they needed us to be there on time and had our table waiting).

Once seated, we were greeted by our server; he was friendly and pleasant. We placed drink and appetizer orders first. The first round of
alcoholic drinks were good. We also placed orders for cokes but received Diet Coke. When we brought it to their attention, they removed the Diet Coke, but never brought us our replacements. When I brought this to the server’s attention, he let me know they don’t have Coke, only Diet Coke. Thought that was completely bizarre but okay, why wouldn’t you make us aware of that when we ordered?

It took about 40 minutes to receive half the entrées and we still hadn’t received any appetizers. Oxtail & grits were cold. The steak in the steak & eggs was overcooked (we asked for medium rare & they cooked it well done). The branzino was the only item that was actually enjoyed.

The other two entrées came out 30 minutes AFTER the first set of entrées. We were really confused on what the holdup was because one of the dishes was just pancakes, scrambled eggs, and potatoes. The server kept saying they were just waiting for the sides, which still didn’t make sense on why it took over an hour to receive this food. Once the final two entrées were delivered to the table, we quickly realized what the holdup was— they ran out of potatoes. Instead of being transparent and letting us know that, they subbed the original potatoes with frozen Ore-Ida diced potatoes (thinking we wouldn’t know). In addition to that, the pancakes were doughy & undercooked. Oh, not to mention, we were charged $2 for adding cheese to eggs, when we didn’t have cheese & had specifically said we didn’t want cheese in the eggs.

When we were waiting for the food, we had ordered a second round of drinks of the exact same drinks we ordered the first time, but for some reason, they did not taste the same.

Oh, and our server’s shift ended while we were still waiting for half the food, and he left and handed us off to someone else.

There were five of us and we spent about $120 a piece, which to me is normal pricing for brunch in this area, but was not worth it for this brunch in particular. Maybe we caught them on a bad day, but I will NEVER return.

My daughter and I were both happy to see the breakfast club so close to home.

Experience and food was TRASH. We won’t recommend nor be back.

Plate with our wings was cracked. See pictures.

Drink was delicious that’s about it. London needs better table side manners and be more attentive don’t let me wave you down for service!

We got the wings as appetizers and got all drums and no flats how rude. We ate because I didn’t want to send back for anyone to mess with the 2nd set.

I ask for medium steak and it was beyond over cooked. I did not eat. I don’t like my steak to be rubbery.

My daughter order short stack and they were DRY and not tasty. We had to ask for syrup because the server didn’t think to bring when the food was delivered. My daughter took two bites and let the rest.

Waste of my money. We’ll drive to DC location for better service and food.

Chatioc.... as single person your only choice is the bar...where everything is happening. $$$ so it was my lunch and dinner too. Best part of the meal were the psmcakes. It may be better on the weekdays... unless I'm going a group I may not venture there again. I
Advise anyone who is going to breakfast or brunch, whatever don't get the eggs.Go on to the store and buy yourself seven dollar twelve pack eighteen pack of eggs instead of paying sixty or seven dollars for to and this is at any restaurant now.

Lamb chops were good. After eating the last one, I had a nasty aftertaste in my mouth. Like fresh roadkill. I don’t thing they cleaned/soaked them in vinegar. Other than that, they were seasoned and cooked to
Perfection. Also, I would take out. It costs entirely too much to not be paid attention to and being charged the service fee
