Our family is heartbroken to learn this incredible restaurant closed last Thursday. We arrived on Friday to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was shuttered. The owner George and his longtime wait-staffer Wendy provided a haven that served delicious, plant-based food. We celebrated so many birthdays and anniversaries at this fantastic restaurant. May George, Wendy, their families and the other cooks and waitstaff prosper in whatever they do next. They truly provided exceptional and healthy food to our community for decades and will be dearly missed by all who grew to rely on them for lovely meals and a warm, welcoming environment.
Sadly, we found the business closed with a note on the door stating they were closed permanently as of 11/16/23 This was the best restaurant and very disappointing to lose it.
Literally waiting 30 minutes for the server to great us. They hung up the phone on you when you call. The food is bland and you have to pay extra money for mayonnaise! I miss the old vegetable garden. This place is terrible. Don’t bother coming!!!!!

Vegan starts a restaurant with a 5 star rating and they then have to prove it.They did. I don’t know real Chinese food except the style my son left China with. But the food was great. Cumin fries were ordered on a whim and were great. Gen tsao chicken was very good and minimally sweet. My wife’s fried tofu dish was a bit salty for my taste. Avocado sushi a work of art.Waitress was excellent and the place clean. This has become a family regular.

A very large variety of very tasty dishes, fast service and reasonable prices
The restaurant was earlier (in late 90s and early 2000s) located on Rockvile pike very close to White Flint metro. This was our go to place. The food was fantastic and their key lime pie was to die for! Then they lost their lease (the building was later demolished to make way for the modern high rises in what is now called North Bethesda). The restaurant disappeared for a while. Their chef was hired by Yuan Fu and being the only faux meat vegetarian restaurant, Yuan Fu became hugely popular and successful. In the meantime, Vegetable Garden, after a hiatus of several years, reopened in Silver Spring. We went to check it out at the time and were very disappointed with everything- the food, ambience, service etc. So did not go there for several years. Now, on the recommendation of friends, we decided to try the place out again. The place has a very soothing ambience and there are a couple of monitors running interesting pieces about the benefits of vegetarianism (no surprise there). The place was obviously understaffed. There was only one waitress for the entire restaurant and she was doing her best being polite, answering questions about the dishes, taking orders, serving and then cleaning up. So we had to wait a while, both for service and the food. Could not really complain to her because she was doing an outstanding job but really could have had more help for a Friday lunch. The food was mixed. The vegetable roll was excellent. The hot pot tofu was good but very few veggies. The sesame chicken was okay-okay but the potions really small. The tofu curry really bland and unappetizing. So all in all a mixed bag.Still, their menu was several pages long and looks like they are innovative, especially with mushroom, in coming up with faux meat dishes.Definitely with checking out.

The plates had leftover food on it, it smelled like rotten eggs inside the restaurant, and she said a 5$ tip isn’t good enough we need to leave 7$ tip. Like what the hell??Maybe she really needed it I guess but the was she said it was pissy and rude. Should have just left 0$.
This place is the absolute best Asian restaurant for vegetarians or vegans in the area. All the food is amazing and there are so many great options to pick from. And the prices are reasonable.Favorite part for me was the eel sushi. When I ate meat that was my go to and this is the only place I know of that offers that as a vegan alternative.

Very extensive menu although several of my selections were not available. They need more staff and need to be more welcoming when people arrive.

I really want to love this place. As a vegan, there aren't many places to eat out this way (Olney, MD). I been here twice and both times, I was disappointed. 1st time, I got a sushi roll and dumplings - neither had any flavor, although the sushi was preferred over the dumplings. The ginger and Wasabi were a big help there, as I don't usually use either when eating sushi. The dumplings were just bland, period. They were hearty and a good portion, but they could've been so much better. On my 2nd trip, I was sick and stopped on my way home from work and got hot and sour soup and general Tsao's tofu, which came with brown rice. The GT Tofu went in the trash... couldn't even manage the broccoli. It seemed old and, once again, no flavor what so ever. I've never experienced that before from any asian theme carry-out/restaurant. GT chicken was my go-to before becoming vegan, so I've been eating the dish my whole life basically.... I was most disappointed in that. The soup was only tofu and mushrooms and mad salty... like toooo salty. I ended up having to mix it with the brown rice to stomach it, but even then, I was chugging water constantly (and who wants to do that when you're sick...)I'm going to give them another shot. I review a lot of places, and I typically do 3 visits before I wrote a place off completely. I'm really hoping that trying some other dishes can change this review.3 stars because the location is convenient, the staff is "friendly" and they give a discount if you use cash.

I discovered this place by accident. I needed to find somewhere for me and my little one to eat on the fly while taking care of my elderly mother. She lives up the street from Leisure World shopping center, so I went there to get Chinese food and realized it was no longer there and this restaurant had replaced it. I looked over the whole menu before making my choice. Decided to go with the curry fried rice. IT WAS INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS! The portion size was enormous, I ate on it for 3 days. Very easy to find from Georgia Ave., located in the Leisure World shopping center, with tons of parking. It is a sit-down restaurant but I only had time for carry-out that day. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for my vegan and foodie friends!!! Can't wait to go back!!
Excellent all vegan restaurant with a wide variety of vegan dishes that look and taste like regular chinese food. Highly recommend the beef garden teriyaki bowl, it's da-lish!!!
