Serpico Pizza & Pasta

The only reason I went to Serpico's restaurant yesterday was because a group I was a member of decided to have our monthly lunch there. When I heard where they were going, I almost opted out, but only went to socialize with the group. I could not decide what to order since, although I live directly across the road, I found that it was worth it to drive anywhere else to get better food and service than Serpico's provides. I had not tried the calzone before, so that was my choice and I knew as soon as it was put in front of me that I should not have expected something that I would enjoy. The outside crust was hard and overcooked and I wondered why it was shaped like a turtle's shell until I cut into it and saw that it was filled with air with most of it on the bottom half. There was some runny liquid that came out and I soon realized that I believe it was what was supposed to be the ricotta cheese as there was none to be found anywhere else. The mozzarella cheese I bit into was the consistency of rubber and I could not chew it enough to swallow it. I then attempted to eat a piece of broccoli (since it was a veggie) and that also, was hard as a rock and completely uncooked. I let it go and decided to take it home and maybe salvage some of it for later. Later I did say something to the lady who served it and asked if she was related to the owner, which she replied that they were family. She half-heartedly (and I thought also a little angrily), that I should have said something and they would have made me something else. I though she was going to come back and ask me what I wanted. She never did and I could not think of anything I would have wanted anyway. The only reason i went there this time was to be with the group, but I hope this will not be their choice anytime in the future as I will never go in there again.
And I threw it away when I got home!

Best Pizza in Maryland, hands down. Great menu, great speed, and I breathed a sigh of relief when the servers started speaking in Italian to each other. They really know what they're doing here. It always comes out piping hot and delicious, and I love the ceiling art. My go-to lunch spot.

In the area for business once a month! Great service, great food! Pizza is delicious, now hooked on the Italian cold cut on fresh focaccia!!

They never disappoint. We usually get their carry out pizza which we really like. Decided to stick around at the restaurant last night and order something different from their menu. It was really good. Service was quick and efficient and people were very friendly. You can't go wrong with this place.
