This is a great place to bring people with conflicting tastes. Non-adventurous diners can enjoy the burgers, more adventurous diners can sample various Korean food (the steak is quite good), and healthnuts and vegans will have a lot of choices. The dining area is initimate, but a little too small for my tastes. Good place for casual dining and great for any meal.

I've been coming to marks kitchen since I was a little kid, every time I've gone it's been absolutely amazing. Mark has been a staple of the community and his restaurant will be missed but everyone who grew up with his food will remember him for the rest of time. Mark, your spinach tofu cakes will be missed. <3

A recent news piece in "Source of the Spring" quotes Laura Barclay of Main Street Takoma about the closing of Mark's Kitchen at the end of January, 2023. Barclay mentions that "the restaurant, which opened at 7006 Carroll Ave. in 1990, will remain open until the end of the month but will be closed from Jan. 9 through Jan. 15. The restaurant amassed a loyal following over the years, with reviews calling it a 'reliable place for a bite' and 'a long-time local experience.'" Here's the whole article: I'm one among many who certainly will miss Mark's food, staff, cozy ambience, and generous support of the local community. All the best to Mark Choe and all the folks who have also contributed to making the Kitchen such a great place through the years.

This would be the first time here when it wasn't brunch. The udon noodles were tender and full of unique flavor. The wrap platter (Ssam Experience) was a healthy diversion. It did not fill up with diners until around 6:00 p.m. so it is a great place to converse with a tea before then. Thanks Mark

I just learned that Mark's Kitchen is closing on January 8th. I'm DEVASTATED. Mark's was the hangout for me, all my friends, and all of our parents in the '90s and early 2000s. I almost always got a grilled cheese with turkey bacon and mandoo, perfect every time. Mark was always so kind to everyone who came in and knew the community so well. He IS Takoma Park. When my friends and I, in high school, imagined The OC but made it Takoma Park (TKPK), Mark was a main character (so was the guy who carried the dead fox and ran the tool library, RIP -- IYKYK). I remember loving looking at the drawings the kids in the community would give to Mark to hang. I loved everything about Mark's -- it was a home away from home. And considering my family home in Takoma Park was sold in 2006, that means a lot to me. Wishing you the absolute best, Mark.

Korean steak and kimchi omelet was very good. The diner vibe is nice but it can get quite busy on the weekends. Strongly recommend.

I have come here for brunch almost every weekend for years. It is a wonderful place with excellent food and service. The mung bean pancakes are incredible.

Mark's kitchen staff was very nice. The welcoming atmosphere brought me back. I had a good asparagus and shiitake mushroom omelette, and a nice cup of coffee. They have vegan and vegetarian options. Plus a nice mix of Korean flavors.

My wife and i ordered from here on Caviar last month and we were very impressed with their Korean/American fusion food. To drink we had a Mark's Avocado Shake and to eat we started with the Ban Chan Sampler, and Vegetarian Appetizer Sampler. Our entrees were the Kimchi Cheeseburger and the Korean Steak & Kimchi Omlette which were both very impressive but the Kimchi Cheeseburger stood out more. We had enough for leftovers for lunch the next day. We look forward to both ordering delivery from them and dining in there in the future.

Mark's Kitchen offers the unique combination of a small-town diner vibe with delicious Korean and American food. While there's lots of good stuff in their extensive menu, favorites are: the peanut-y soba noodle special available only on the weekends the kimchi fried rice and bibimbap with micro greens. My meat-eating family likes the bulgogi (Korean steak on the menu), hamburgers and club sandwich. I'd like to see the physical place freshened up a bit (bathroom especially). Maybe add a tagline to the sign out front so people realize Mark's has a variety of food?

DoorDash Sunday Evening Order: One word: Disappointing: The Wasabi Grilled Salmon arrived cold with the asparagus tips the only warm part and 1 strawberry. It also included 4 slices of cucumber and capers... If asparagus are different colors of green then they were not cooked at the same time! I wanted to like this dish but it's rather disappointing! I ordered the turkey Turkey Burger with avocado, onion, and sprouts (which arrived without those toppings). It was somewhat dry but overall tasty... At first, I was disappointed with the small amount of sweet potatoes which in the end was okay since they were coated with brown sugar and overly sweet! Lastly, I am unclear as to the purpose of the slimy soggy pickles that were included! IF I give this place another try, I will order something else.

Mark's Kitchen is just so peculiar. For pancakes, I don't think there's anywhere better in the city. They're flavorful and chock-full of mix-ins like bananas or chocolate chips or pecans. But for most other things, especially lunch dishes, I'm left scratching my head. The combinations don't add up to a filling meal and the flavors are very hit or miss. Mark's is nice because you can get food quickly and at a very good price, and there will be something for a variety of palates but you can't always guarantee the quality of each individual dish. Stick to the breakfast food and look elsewhere the other stuff.
