I wish I had a better experience to share, but unfortunately, my stay started off on the wrong foot. Upon check-in, the employee I encountered acted as if she really didn’t want to be there. While she did answer my questions, there were important details she chose not to share upfront—details that would have saved us a lot of time and frustration.

For example, when I went to make my payment, she saw me pull out my child card. I even told her, “Give me a second to transfer the funds to the card,” because there was an unexpected $100 incidental hold that was never mentioned when booking. She simply said “okay” but never told me that the hotel doesn’t accept that type of card. Later, when my husband went to check in, a different representative informed him they do not accept that card or Cash App cards at all.

Yes, there is a sign posted at the desk, but it’s off to the left—something you wouldn’t naturally notice when walking up to speak with the representative. Guests typically focus on the person assisting them, not scanning the area for signs. The lack of proactive communication about this policy caused us unnecessary back-and-forth and delays.

Even though our check-in time was listed as 3:00 PM, we weren’t able to get into our room until almost 6:30 PM due to the confusion. This lack of courtesy and transparency from the first employee really left a negative impression on our stay.

We were on a week long vacation to the US, from Canada and DC was the last leg of our trip. We booked the hotel room for 3 nights and the lady that checked us in was very warm and sweet!! As a first time traveller to the US, We had some questions regarding the travel through metros and she patiently answered all our questions. As we were travelling through the car, we reached at about 8:30pm and unfortunately got my periods at the wrong time. We went around looking for a store to buy pads, but couldnt find any. I asked the front desk lady (should've asked her name) and she very kindly lended me 2 for the night. Mischief managed :)
The breakfast was ok, limited options but similar to the other hotels we stayed, so kind of got used to the generic menu. The first day we came back from sightseeing, the towels were replaced and room cleaned but the beds were not made. Untouched. The welcome card did mention that they replaced the sheets every 3rd day of the stay, but why would you not make the beds? A minor inconvenience we let slide. Anyway... The next day, we were getting ready to head out and the housekeeping mumbled something about cleaning the room( she wasn't able to understand English and we couldn't follow Spanish). We politely asked her to come after an hour as we were in the middle of our showers and getting ready, she obliged but came back after 5 mins with her tools to clean the room. We gave in, I was moving around in my night gown and face masks. Again a minor inconvenience but could've easily been avoided. Before heading out, we requested the front desk to make our beds, they noted our room number and said they'll get it done but when we returned it was still the same and hadnt been touched. The next morning we were to check out at 11am, we called them at 10:25am 'politely' asking if we could take an extra 10-15mins to check out, as with kids it could take a few mins extra. The lady at the front desk(not the usual one we were interacting with all this while) had a different tone and rudely answered that not a single extra minute will be given and as per policy there is a strict check out time. Noted. We hurried the kids into speeding up and got back to our packing. She called again 5 mins later, telling me i had to check out at 11. I thought we were late and was it already 11??? She said no you still have 20 mins, n that tone continued telling me about the policies. I lost my cool and told her i understood her the first time. She asked me stop yelling and we exchanged a few words. We left the room at 11:02 came down 11:04. The topic should've ended there. She could've just easily diffused the situation by smiling(like i did ) and just expressing the usual 'its not in my hands' dilemma. But she told me to have a good day and also mentioned that she told her manager about my rudeness and yelling! If one is in a hospitality industry, there is a way to talk to guests. While one understands policies and rules, one also remembers the kindness and personal touch a place and person provided, which sets a hotel above the rest! But It felt like she was doing me a favor by letting us stay there. We had another exchange of words and i told her i merely returned the energy she so beautifully gave out! She threatened me over and over about calling the police and letting her manager know, who conveniently was nowhere to be found. She didnt bother to help us with the check out formalities and my husband had to go back in to collect the receipts and clarify the charges. What started as a beautiful experience, left a bittersweet after taste!

Basically if you are looking for a basic hotel just to spend a night or 2 its okay, we made the mistake of prepayment for 5 days. The Hotel was clean but awfully noisy, especially at night with kids, partying and smoking, they should put families on different floors, or more security, the door slamming, yelling in the hallways in the rooms. The desk staff was always courteous and friendly.

The front desk people have been exceptionally friendly and kind. Location if using the metro to go downtown is great. After reading some recent reviews I was contemplating canceling my reservation before coming, I'm glad I didnt cancel as i was pleasantly happy with our stay. We are staying 4 nights and id stay again if I was in the area. Couple of things noted and brings it down a star is no room darkening shades at all and our tub has a constant drip but nothing horrible. A continental breakfast is served every morning and that was good!
