2025 update:
I don't know what happened but this place completely went off the rails. I ordered the chicken and lamb combo with the chickpeas. Both of my proteins were completely overcooked. The lamb was almost a jerky consistency. The chicken had none of the flavoring that I remembered from last time. The chickpeas were also underwhelming. I would not order from here again.
Original review:
Yum. Swung by for the first time over the weekend. I ordered the combo with beef and chicken with chickpeas as my side. Two skewers, over rice with the side, small salad and bread. My thoughts:
*chicken skewer: 6 stars. OMG this was so good. The chicken was perfectly cooked, not dry at all, and I loved the seasoning. I could eat a pound of this.
*beef skewer: 3 stars. The flavoring was great, but my particular skewer was overcooked.
*rest of dish: 4 stars. There was ample rice, I think it was basmati variety and very nicely cooked. I LOVED my chickpeas - whatever sauce they were in had a nice zip to it. I didn't have belly room for the salad so I can't comment. The bread I think was wheat flour so a little tougher than I personally prefer.
The owner/chef was a delight. I wish him success and I will come back and eat all the chicken.
Waldorf is a veritable desert for good food, and Kabob BQ is an oasis!
Incredible halal food. Generous portions. Very good service. Will come again. Got the lamb kebab best meal I've had in months. The bread is delicious. Everything so good

Food was really great. The owner serviced us he was super kind and welcoming. My only complaint would be the portion sizes of meats.

Food has gone to hell since new ownership, it's absolutely horrible. Canned curry potatoes, uncooked hard rice, meat is very tough as well..

I used to frequent this place alot before it merged with HipHop Chicken, now the quality of the kabobs has gone down tremendously. The sides & salad isn’t fresh no more, the meats isn’t thoroughly cooked either. But atleast the naan is still decent…

The must have their friends writing the reviews! Spent almost 200 for them to sale us short. When does the lamb kabob come with 4 pieces of meat? Platters come with rice salad and a side. Order 2 platters they put 8 pieces of lamb in a box only no rice nothing. When I told them they messed up the order he said they didn’t this is after getting someone that spoke English! He claimed all was there I said I’d check again after going back and fourth! Before I hung up the line good he calls back and says it’s only four pieces a lamb in a platter he said it’s in one box! Liessss you tell one who the hell combines people good that’s paid separately and who the hell sale a platter of 4 pieces of meat for 30.00. I will be reaching out to the better business bureau! A waste of money time and this was for a repass! I pray you get want you put out

The chicken kabobs and sides (chickpeas and potatoes) have really gone downhill since the change in ownership.

Trash, DO NOT eat here. I’m tired of getting terrible service from mean people who barely speak English and treat you as if you’re lucky to be eating their food. If I could give ZERO stars I would’ve.
I absolutely hate leaving bad reviews but this experience was just ridiculous. Went here about a year ago and it was awesome. The actual owner came out and our service/food was great. The last two experiences negate the first and we won’t be going back EVER! They’re a gruff bunch of men who are MAD AT YOU FOR NOTHING. The last time we ordered our food and by the time we got there to pick it up, they acted like we never ordered it and when we showed them their number on the phone they tried to tell us we just have to wait 15 mins….this time, we get our food…ROACH and all…I’m just done! UNACCEPTABLE.
Not good ? The Afghan food has gone down not as good as before. About two or three year s a good it was very good. I have to go back over to Virginia now.

The kebab in this place used to be very good. An old man was cooking in the kitchen. At the moment, this man has no food. As for the kebab, it's not good. The new staff either changed or didn't know the recipes of the older man who used to be the cook here. The meat for the kebab is hard. not baked, the same, the rice is not good, it's just different from what it used to be. I don't recommend this place now. It used to be like that, not now.

Lovely service and truly delicious food. We went there as a detour on our trip to PA and we left full of exotic flavors and friendliness. I recommend the shrimp, but the lamb was also excellent.
