Tony Locos Bar & Restaurant

It’s okay. I’ve been a couple times and have been very underwhelmed. Atmosphere is friendly with friendly staff. I’ve tried the Cajun shrimp tacos, wings- lemon pepper and bing bang, and the chicken BLT. The food tastes like it’s been frozen for a while. I think there was liquid smoke on the chicken sandwich that had me running straight home. The shrimp tacos were a little better but nothing note worthy. I also had a top shelf margarita and it was very sour with hardly any alcohol. Not worth the money is my overall opinion. I eat out when I don’t feel like cooking and this was very disappointing both times. I left very unsatisfied and raiding my cabinets when I got home.

Disappointing Experience at Tony Locos Oyster Festival

I attended the Tony Locos Oyster Festival on January 30, 2025, and unfortunately, it was a major letdown. I had reservations for 6:00 pm, but after a 30-minute drive and leaving work early, my party and I were told they had run out of oysters just minutes after placing our order. We were offered oysters at $2.75 each, even though the sign clearly advertised them at 50 cents for the event.

To make matters worse, I saw other tables being served oysters while we were told there were none left. The manager's response to my concerns was unhelpful and seemed dismissive, offering no real solution or explanation, despite conflicting information about how many oysters were available (200, 1,200, then 2,000). It was clear that the event was not properly planned, and reservations were not prioritized.

This was my first time visiting Tony Locos, and I was looking forward to the event, but I left extremely frustrated and disappointed. I will not be returning or recommending this place to others. It’s clear that the event was poorly handled, and the lack of care in resolving the issue made this an overall terrible experience.

My margarita was disappointing.

My husband asked our waitress if she had put it in as a mockail because we could not taste any alcohol. She assured that she had not. - She even said how they put in extra alcohol compared to other restaurants/bars. I think they forgot to add the shot in mine. It was also extremely salty - drank through the straw - not from the rim. It tasted like a very salty limeade with no alcohol.

She didn't even offer to make it right.

Well, they were not happy with what I had to say and honestly it was not my business. I just overheard a comment about clients being ugly and smelly.. and I thought that was not cool.. But then my car wouldn’t start and I had a device that would help me start it and the manager on a Saturday night would not let me charge it. He literally was OK with me not being able to start my car at 12 am . He and his customers laughed at me thought it was funny. Oh, I understand it was not my business (nice or not) I def take the responsibility for that but to leave a customer without a way to get home because you think you are all that. Hate to say it will come back to haunt you my friend. Maybe not by me.. most likely not by me but it will….

I couldn't ask for a better place to enjoy a good traditional Puerto Rican taste. Fried plantains (tostones) are on the spot! A grilled chicken sandwich is one of my favorites, you can taste the smoky flavor on the fillet.
Chicharrones with fried plantains (tostones) is a great idea and rich with lots of flavor. Don't forget the wings, absolutely delicious, old bay is a good choice for topping.
Definitely coming back. Highly recommended.
