The last few reviews are pretty negative but we had a good experience. We had a glazed donut, a coconut donut, and some blueberry muffins.
The donuts were more light and fluffy than dense, though they had some old fashioned donuts. We all liked them. The muffins were standout, very tasty with ample blueberries. The sanding sugar on top was a nice touch.
Plus, a cup of coffee was only $1.

Heard about this place many times on YouTube from customers making videos about trail riding in Maine during all 4 seasons. Easily accessible by ATV or snowmobile. The place lives up to its hype!

Been stopping here for years on our way to Moosehead. This will be our last though. Each time , I try a different item and it never tastes as good as it should. The owners may not want to hear it, but their old recipes as mentioned in another review, are old. It’s not always a good thing. They are bland and in drastic need of updating.
The worst thing about this place is that the owners are on site, openly able to see the counter and waiting area from two spots they work in AND STILL I never once have seen them acknowledge anyone. I personally have made eye contact With her multiple times and did the polite smile acknowledgement and gotten nothing but a grumpy face back.
It’s funny though, she’s awful quick to be defensive when called out on social media or in reviews for truly bland food and the truth.
To reference another review- you don’t need time to post fake reviews. All you need is multiple Gmail accounts that you simply change the display name to. It’s easy and takes seconds. She claims no time, but is on Facebook constantly. They have time. That’s why most the 5star have no text/ context. The internet is smarter than they think.
But anyways.
Bland food
Non pleasant , non personable atmosphere.
And if you filter the reviews, the truth flows.

I have to agree with the other REAL reviews. Unfortunately the place is over hyped. What they have going for them: Social media presence, longevity, display, appearance.
What sorely lacks: flavor, taste, sweetness, culinary ability.
Does everything look phenomenal? Yes.
But not everything tastes great. Over the years I’ve had almost everything they make. And , nope. Solid 4/10. Donuts are raised, soft, beautiful , yes. But they lack so much flavor. The owners work hard. They deal with staff issues, shortages etc. BUT THEY MANAGE. SO. It’s time to readjust these old school recipes. A molasses cookie should have warm spices. Raspberry filling should have acid. It’s flat without it. Chocolate donuts should taste like chocolate. It wouldn’t hurt to toss blueberries in sugar and flour. I mean …. Basically the place is like a hot chick, looks good but is all image. There’s nothing else.

Why does this place have good reviews, because it’s the only place that’s local? Had a very disappointing wrap with TWO slices of turkey and mostly lettuce. The pastries are mid, almost flavorless.
Has a family owned and operated feel - where the employees and customers are all welcomed as family. The line looks long when you walk in but they move you through efficiently with smiles and friendlness.
And the pastries! Good old fashioned deliciousness. Just like Memere or Nona would make for you.

I was excited to get an apple turnover but when i bit into it i was automatically turned off. It was filled with cream. i've never had one with cream in it a day in my life. I was suprised at the amount of people there but i don't get the hype maybe i missed something. if i could get my money back i would.

This place lived up to its reputation. If I lived here I would be coming here frequently. I'll be coming back next vacation.
