Angelo's Pizzeria in Bangor Maine stands out as a culinary beacon for those in pursuit of the quintessential pizza experience, transcending the ordinary to offer something truly extraordinary. It's a bold claim, but one that Angelo's effortlessly lives up to, serving what can confidently be called the best pizza in the state. Their secret lies not only in the quality of ingredients but also in the mastery of their craft, ensuring each pie is a masterpiece of flavor and texture. But the marvels of Angelo's extend beyond their acclaimed pizzas. Their lasagna is a testament to their prowess in Italian cuisine, layering rich, savory flavors in a way that feels both traditional and innovative. It's a dish that comforts the soul while exciting the palate, a rare feat in the culinary world. The calzones at Angelo's deserve their own accolade, being nothing short of culinary art. Stuffed with the finest, freshest ingredients and cooked to perfection, they are a harmonious blend of crispy outer and melt-in-your-mouth inner goodness. Each bite is a journey through flavors so divine, they're "to die for".Beyond the exceptional food, Angelo's is characterized by its outstanding service. The promise of having your food ready on time is unfailingly kept, a testament to their respect for the customer's time and experience. The atmosphere is further enriched by the super friendly staff, whose genuine warmth and hospitality make every visit feel like a return to a cherished friend's home.Highly recommended by locals and visitors alike, Angelo's Pizzeria is more than just a restaurant; it's a destination. A place where the joy of Italian cuisine is celebrated, and every meal is an opportunity to make memories around the table. Whether you're a pizza aficionado or just someone who appreciates great food and even greater company, Angelo's is a must-visit.

Love the food. The eggplant sub is delicious. The seafood is very good. We order from them regularly.

The staff are super are super accommodating, offer to help you outside with your pizza (I always make extra trips) and the rare times they've made an error in my order, they remake my food and don't charge bc of my wait. Fantastic food and people. I just love the Greek pizza!!Parking: The parking lot is across the front of the building, diagonally. I've never not been able to park. When backing out, especially on weekends, look carefully bc people are coming and going. It's a narrow parking lot with enough room, but you don't want to take a driver's door off, back out at the same time as another driver or in front of an incoming car.

Wanted to make spaghetti and meatballs at home but my significant other convinced me to order spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread and a side salad from Angelo's Pizzeria. The side salad was good, Caesar dressing was good. Garlic bread was soggy but tasty. The spaghetti and meatballs was an unmitigated disaster. The spaghetti was over cooked and mushy. It's such an easy thing to get right... The meatballs were in fact sliced up into quarters and tasted like a freshly opened can of cat food. They were edible but rather unpleasant. It only took one look at the website to realize that the menu is larger than the holy bible and that's why the quality of the food is sub-cat food...It should be illegal to sell "meatballs" when the end product is sliced up balls of "meat" that smell like a can of Fancy Feast. This restaurant is an absolute disaster. The delivery drivers are nice and they bring your food quickly.

TLDR: Fantastic food, affordable, local, open late, and great staffBangor Angelo’s consistently produces great, flavorful, and filling food for a great price. It was my go-to for a hot takeout meal during college, and I’m sad that I’m no longer able to constantly visit due to living elsewhere. However, I’m now able to lose some weight! Angelo’s is one of the few places that regularly stay open past 9pm, it’s a local business, and I’ve never had issues despite dozens of visits. I never leave feeling empty. They’re usually busy, extremely so during the dinner rush. I recommend ordering online or in person versus a phone call. Wait times may be increased, but it has never been unreasonable in comparison to the volume of orders. Disclaimer - The Angelo’s up in Old Town is owned and operated by different people, and it’s noticeable. From pizzas, salads, subs, and pasta, to desserts and more, there’s something for everyone who enjoys the classic “Italian” style pizza joint. Angelo’s also has meal deals that are perfect for a quick lunch or a light dinner. The pizzas and calzones are super flavorful, toppings or fillings are not skimpy, and they usually drip grease. Some people may not like the extra fat or flavor, so I recommend getting a grilled chicken salad. The grilled chicken is seasoned well, moist and not burned, and there is plenty of meat to have protein consistently throughout the salad. They also use the grilled chicken on pizza. I cannot underscore enough how good the chicken is! It would be more accurate to compare the subs to Jason’s NY Style versus Subway or Jersey Mike’s. They don’t have a giant pile of toppings, but they’re superior in quality and flavor, and the sizes leave you comfortably full. I recommend the chicken parm sub. They also have a wide selection of Coke products, chips, ice cream, and they also sell dessert. You can’t go wrong by getting some baklava or whoopie pies to go for later enjoyment. The whoopie pies are done very well – moist cookie/cake and proportional filling that isn’t runny or easy to squish out. Portion sizes for whatever you pay are always excellent, and the prices are generally cheaper than other food in the area, especially when you consider quantity and quality. They know that keeping food good and cheap keeps people coming back, unlike some local chain stores. The staff are excellent, friendly, and work well under stress. The food is always great, regardless of how busy they are. Even when the staff are on break, they are happy to chat with customers. Only once, they gave me the wrong salad due to my miscommunication. They immediately, and promptly, replaced it with no questions asked. I constantly see the owner working hard among his staff, which speaks to his character and the type of business he runs. The physical location is dated. It’s dark and you can see the wear on some surfaces, but it’s not dirty. The classic stained glass light shades and aesthetic make the place welcoming and cozy, and I fear that modernizing it would take the “local” feel away from it.Angelo’s in Bangor consistently makes my top three list for go-to places to eat in the area. The food is always filling, it doesn’t break the bank, and it’s hard to get tired of it. If so, the menu is large enough to explore. Thank you to Angelo’s for all the great service, meals, and memories throughout the years! We look forward to more.Best Regards,M.R.
