We went to Novio's during our first trip to Bangor. The food was top notch, the drinks super innovative and the service great. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Whether you are looking for a special date night, or a “I don’t want to cook tonight” place, Novio’s Bistro is the place to eat. Bob and his team work together to keep the food and drink menus fresh and seasonally appropriate. And with my food allergies there’s no where else I’d rather eat in Bangor than Novio’s Bistro. And when in doubt always get Courtney’s smoked old fashioned.

If you are looking for an evening of good food, great wine and/or cocktails, with amazing ambiance...look no further than Novio's Bistro. From their season specific cocktails and menu items, to their calming atmosphere, Bob and his team put great pride in their effort to give you a night you'll remember, and look forward to repeting. Add into that mix that they are good at working with my food allergies and they are our number one choice for a dinner out in Bangor

Quiet, low-key establishment with outstanding kitchen and wating staff. Very close to perfection.

Unique and delicious food with equally impressive cocktails in an intimate, old fashioned restaurant.

The food was great, but it was like an ice box in there. Everyone had to keep there jackets on and I saw several shivering as it was so cold. Older building and ran down, I asked if they had a heater and the waiter only laughed.

An absolutely amazing evening. From the cocktails to the duck, both entrees and the cheese cake. We were so happy with the experience, service and atmosphere. We ate at another Bangor restaurant over the weekend and for two courses and drinks it was more expensive than the four course option. 10 out of 10

I liked it in the past. This time it seemed expensive considering the small portion of meat we received and the fact that it was not very tender

Honestly this was the worst dinner we have had at Novio's. It started off with one of our drinks not being made correctly. The cranberry was forgotten in the 223 (it was added for the re-order). We each got different courses so that we could try multiple dishes. The bison meatball was by far the star of the night. Nice portion, creamy sauce, with a little lunch from the pickled onion. The duck “and waffles” (I'm not exactly sure what the dish was called) was okay but the duck was overcooked I am told (I did not have any). Both salads courses were “ok”. For the main course we chose the Thai noodle dish and the Scallop dish. The Thai noodle was so vinegar heavy I took two bites and couldn't eat anymore. I have never experienced a Thai dish like that. Very disappointing. The scallop dish was overpowered by lemon and the scallops were gritty. Dessert was good but at that point I just wanted to leave.

Just entering through the door you know you are at the right place.
Everything from the first bite to last says exquisite. So refined and absolutely amazing! And this review is coming from a very picky person, who travels the world in search of the most delicious bites😋👌❤️
And, did I mention the drink menu - top notch! This is a culinary adventure that will astonish.

The ambience was good, service was excellent and attentive, but the food was just disappointing. I was hoping for a 5 star dining experience that I didn't have to travel to Portland for, maybe my expectations were too high. Plates were nicely arranged visually but fell short in several ways. The mussels had not been cleaned well and were gritty, but the broth was flavorful. It was a bit spicy though and a warning might be best to provide to customers. The duck confit was the tiniest portion size served on what looked like an eggo waffle. That was a particular disappointment. The salads were both okay. They were small and uninspired, the farro salad in particular tasted almost completely like nuts all the way through, there were no interesting or bright flavors to break up the monotony so it fell short of being enjoyable. The main courses were better, though the bistro steak was unpleasantly salty. The ribs were decent, not exactly tender but certainly not bad, but it seemed like the meat had sat for a while and was reheated, it was a bit dry, also the bbq sauce was good but it appeared that it had been brushed on, warmed up and served. The sauce was not caramelized or cooked into the ribs at all and could just be wiped off. All vegetables served with the main courses we got, summer squash and brussel sprouts were kind of raw, crunchy, not sure if that was the intent, but for me it was a negative. The mashed potatoes were pretty good, a bit wet, but good. Finally dessert, both were good, but the portions were small. The strawberry balsamic ice cream was unique and something I enjoyed. And the wine recommended by the server was excellent.
