Lovely restaurant in an historic building. Local crab cakes were well seared and flaky and the oysters were plump and very fresh. The Salmon and Peas dish was delicious. The local salmon was tender and succulent. Drinks were reasonably priced, with the spicy “Bucket Brigade” a fun libation. Service was excellent, with a team approach.
If you're looking for a different experience the Tarratine is an excellent place. You can be comfortable dressing up or in jeans. The food is delicious and well prepared. The summer menu was just changed to an Autumn and we look forward to trying them all. There is a nice wine menu and a bar for mixed drinks. Enjoy!
Excellent meal. Arrived early. Not a problem. As usual beautiful setting. Drinks and appetizers all delicious. I had the pear martini, delicious. Best halibut I've had, sauce and pearl onions so yummy! Waitress was great, friendly but not intrusive.
Very place to dine , food was great, a great peaceful atmosphere, I'd definitely go back

Really excellent all around. Highly recommended. Waitress was very attentive. Even with a large group that came in, food still arrived in a timely manner. Only thing was they did run out of the apple crumb cake, but that will give me a reason to return.
Best restaurant we have been to in a long time. The Tarratine is the definition of fine dining. The restaurant is nicely decorated in a very elegant manner. The service is very responsive but not hovering or pushing. The food was excellent and nicely presented. If you have not been to the The Tarratine add it to the top of your list. We wish we had this restaurant closer to our home. Again this was the best restaurant we have been to in a long time!!!
Cool place, extremely nice staff. If I’m going to drop $200 for a nice dinner for 2 I expect a meal far superior to what I would make at home. This was not the case. So unimpressed with the food.

What an amazing spot this place is, from the second you pull up to the time you leave the staff is extremely professional and very attentive to what you need. The building speaks for itself self and is truly special but the food was far beyond our expectations, probably the best meal in Bangor. We will be back soon!
The bottom line is that it was very good and I will absolutely go back. My criticisms are tiny but stand between very good and exceptional. That said, the service was exceptional. Both our hostess and server were genuine, smiling, and helpful. And both made a point to note it was our anniversary without asking. The chocolate cherry old-fashioned was very good but would have been much better with a large cocktail cube instead of the machine ice, some of which was still in a sheet. Part presentation and part dilution. Again, a tiny criticism hoping to help. The first bite of my crabcakes included a large piece of shell about the size of a tooth. I remember that because I was concerned that I had chipped one. They are pan-fried which is good but they use shredded crab and not chunks which I would have preferred. Portions are perfect for a shared appetizer. The etouffee was advertised as classic cajun with a Maine twist (aka lobster). I was looking for lobster pieces intermingled with the rest. Instead there was a big chunk of tail on top. This would have been fine except I had no knife at this point and it wasn't easy to work. I'm not sure that it was fresh lobster. The texture reminded me of frozen that I would expect anywhere but Maine but again, I can't say for sure and within the context of the rest of the dish, I'm not sure it's that important. I'm sure my wife the native Mainer might disagree. They paired it with an interesting Spanish red. The first glass was slightly oxidized and the replacement excellent. Again, the service was very responsive and prompt. My wife had a bruschetta special appetizer 1/2 of which she took home. Her salmon and peas were excellent. The biggest disappointment was dessert. We ordered the Maine blueberry pie. It came out cold and the crust was not good. She took one bite and was done. I dutifully ate half the blueberries. Again, we will return as this is a great example of how superb service can overcome the other hiccups.

Another wonderful visit! Greeted by Zach at the front door! Super pleasant! Our visit with Kay is always a pleasure! Our Drinks and food were 5 Stars as always! Thank you Tricia and Bob for such a wonderful evening!
My husband & I enjoyed a fabulous stay at the Tarratine Inn over the July 4th long weekend. In the evenings we "retired" to rooftop bar at the Tarratine Restaurant where we enjoyed fabulous panoramic views of the city of Bangor & the Longfellow Mountains beyond whilst we enjoyed our craft cocktails & beer. on the rooftop bar of the Tarratine Restaurant, overlooking the Afterwards we made our way downstairs to immerse ourselves in the warm historic ambiance of the highly touted (& rightly so) Tarratine Restaurant where we enjoyed every last morsel of our wonderfully delicious meals (some of the best food we've enjoyed anywhere:) The Tarratine is on our short list of favourite places to stay & eat! We're already planning a return trip! Thanks Bob, Tricia & your wonderful staff (both at the Inn & the Restaurant!)

We really enjoyed our dinner at the Tarratine. Our server Stephanie did a superb job. The ambience and food were outstanding. The Berry salad was very unique and enjoyable. Do take a tour of the historic building after dinner
The food is delicious, and the setting is supreme. It's very hard to find restaurants today where you can carry on a quiet conversation with the people at your table without being annoyed by the music and television sets. At the Tarrantine, it's different. The low ceilings, many dining areas, and beautiful interiors are worth a trip!
The rooftop has a beautiful atmosphere for drinks and appetizers. Our server, Hannah, was fantastic! She answered all of our questions, mixed amazing drinks, and was such fun to chat with! We were free to walk about and take in the history and beauty of the building. We enjoyed the evening very much.
