OMG this has got to be the best restaurant in Bangor. Justin was the absolute best server and his recommendations were phenomenal. The risotto, steak, crostini’s, everything were outstanding! Farm to table and when they say farm to table he means it. Everything down to the grenadine is scratch made!!
Good food (not amazing). Good presentation. But not worth the price they're charging. Even if it is locally sourced. Friendly staff and good service. If a restaurant charges $30-$50 for an entree, it should come with a soup or salad, or at least some bread.
We were thrilled to find out that Utopia was open on a Monday!
We were back in Maine on a short getaway.
From start to finish, our meal was perfect.
It was a fine dining experience from amazing mock tails to cocktails. All made with fresh ingredients.
We were never rushed through our meals, but not ever ignored by Justin or the wait staff.
The main courses did not disappoint!
My husband had a steak that was presented to perfection and the flavor was mouthwatering.
I had the Eggplant Rollatini. It was remarkable also in flavor and texture.
Hats off to Chef Greg on an amazing dining experience! From taste, texture, flavor, to presentation!
I have to say that we both love to cook, and fresh ingredients are so important.
That is certainly what Utopia has to offer.
We will definitely be back sooner than later to have this very special dining experience again.
Great atmosphere with great food and great service. The rhubarb lemonade cocktail was delicious. Easy place to just hang out and catch up with friends or would make a great date night spot. The spanikopita was delicious as was the gnocchi with prawns. Price is appropriate given the quality of the food and drinks.
Staff very friendly, food very expensive, steak was dry
Bangor’s hidden gem! Second time I’ve eaten here while visiting and the food is outstanding. And the cocktails! So creative and fresh - gorgeous ingredients and delicious. Lovely staff too!
We love it. The drinks are gorgeous, service is great, and the food is delicious. The presentation is always top tier. Not to mention it is in walking distance from where we live, major upside. Also, if you have a sweet tooth, or even if you don’t, order the cannolis, they won’t disappoint. We will be back!
Absolutely loved the mocktails options recommended by Justin. Love the fact its locally sourced ingredients and they do have gluten options. We will definitely be back!
Trying to find amazing food in Bangor on a Monday is impossible, was so thankful to find Utopia for our date night. The food was amazing and such unique choices it was tough to decide what to have. I can't wait to go back the atmosphere was the perfect place for a rare night out.

Just awful. Tried to help them out with a takeout order and it got canceled because they didn’t feature the items advertised.
Never again.

We visited at quarter till six on a Saturday in mid November. They were out of two of the house wines, which was disappointing. They were out of one of the entrees, and then we were told they were out of burgers. They later came back and corrected that, but we had to spend our time scouting for a third option. Burger was good. Cooked correctly and very lean. Winter salad was good. Would have liked our original entree choice option. I guess we were expecting a little better. But food was solid if not inspired. Nice conversation with the people who were placed at a table three feet away instead of at the many other other empty tables. Hope they weren't looking for a romantic evening!

The good: beautiful location and excellent service, although the waitress didn’t know about some of the dishes and was unable to offer substitutes for some of the picky eaters in our party. That’s not her fault or the restaurants. The baked brie was excellent, and they ricotta bites were acceptable.
The bad: I’m Lebanese and the shawarma isn’t. The meat portion was minuscule. I did ask the waitress whether it was actual Shawarma and she didn’t know, so I probably should have investigated further.
No one in my party particularly enjoyed their meals, but that may be as much due to individual taste as any failure on the restaurant’s part.
Given the prices this was a disappointing experience overall which I doubt we will repeat.

Updated: Dropped my rating from a 4 to a 2 after the owner tracked me down on Instagram AFTER arguing with me here after I left what I thought was a very fair review. Definitely won't go back nor recommend to friends.
Original review: Cozy restaurant offering a limited menu of Mediterranean/Greek options. I really wanted to give Utopia 5 stars. I love Greek food, and the atmosphere is really nice inside.
Pros: the spinach pie was excellent, topped with crispy phyllo.
Neutral: The Utopia appetizer plate was okay. Nice housemade hummus accompanied by warm naan. Uninspired tomatoes and cucumbers adorned the plate, along with some pickled cucumbers and peppers, which we enjoyed. The falafel was dry. I would have enjoyed some stuffed grape leaves and other traditional Greek appetizers on the plate. Maybe some nice olives?
I was thoroughly confused by the chicken parmesan on the menu. Although my husband ordered it and enjoyed it. The portion was HUGE! Easily enough for 2 or even 3 people. But that definitely isn't Greek and isn't even Mediterranean. It's American, but for lack of souakibor gyros on the menu, that's what he settled on.
The portions were large enough that we didn't have room for dessert, but did ask to see the menu. Pumpkin cheesecake, chocolate cake, baklava and cannoli? Again, I was confused by the cannoli, cheesecake, etc.
I would have liked to see more traditional Greek dishes. There was a duck entree that looked interesting, as well as mushroom pasta and butternut squash ravioli. Again, not anything expected from a Greek restaurant.
We had a nice meal, but I felt it was overpriced. 2 glasses of house wine, the appetizer plate, chicken parmesan and spanikopita came to $124 before the tip. I'm not sure we'll go back. Bangor doesn't have a ton of choices when it comes to fine dining, but sadly Utopia won't be added to our rotation. Opa in Waterville isn't too far, has a much more varied menu of Greek food, and we've enjoyed meals there far more.

Parking: Can be difficult to find parking, especially on a weekend. There's limited street parking and several other good restaurants within walking distance all competing for spaces.
