It is a small place and we were very happy with our food. We were staying at the hotel so we loved bein able to dine without having to go back into town. We had a burger, the beet salad and lobster bisque. Everything was delicious, including the fries. I was not crazy about the way the lobster bisque was prepared (a little too dark and salty for me) but everyting else was delicious. We also had the pavlova and the triple chocolate cake. Both were beautiful and delicious.

Excellent Lobster Rolls. Blueberry pie was delicious too. So good, we wanted to eat a second night there but thought we'd try another place. Wish we had eaten again at the Bistro instead. It was just so delicious.

A group of four of us kicked off our Acadia trip here with clam chowder, a beet salad, a Cesar salad, crab cakes, a hot lobster roll and the haddock sandwich. Everyone loved their food! We all especially loved the clam chowder and one of us declared the lobster roll the best of the trip.

After our first day exploring Acadia National Park — scaling cliffs and convincing ourselves we’re “moderate-risk” adventurers — we decided to skip the Bar Harbor crowds and dine at The Bistro on Eden, conveniently located at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel.
The view? Lovely. The vibe? A little… off. The place has that “it could be nice if someone cared just a bit more” feel — not bad, just lacking that spark (or maybe a good interior refresh).
My husband, on his noble quest to sample every lobster bisque in Maine, declared this one the worst of the trip — and trust me, the man takes bisque seriously. My beet salad with picked lobster was actually quite good, fresh and nicely balanced, which saved the meal from total disappointment.
Service matched the décor — polite enough but not exactly engaged. It had that subtle “we’re doing you a favor” energy, which really pairs best with… no one’s martini. Speaking of which, I had to remind our server to actually add the olives to mine. Small details, big impact, friends.
In conclusion: go for the view, not the vibe. There’s potential here, but it needs a little love — and a lot more attention to the bisque.

On our last day in Bar Harbor we decided to go to the Bistro. First the restaurant is small but we got there at 5pm so we were seated right away next to the window, which was dirty. My wife ordered the fish and chips and a Caesar salad. I ordered the lobster bisque and a Bistro burger. When I got my bisque, I had to ask for a spoon! I was not sure about the 'Lobster bisque' because it was brown. Every Lobster bisque Ive had previously was pink or red, not brown and it didn't even taste like Lobster. When my server asked how my bisque was I said, Ive never had brown Lobster bisque that didn't taste like Lobster.
I ordered my burger medium but it was well done.
Our server only took the order but food was brought by others.
My wife did like the Fish & chips but I was very disappointed with my last dinner in Bar Harbor.
The bill with tip was $118 which is way over priced for what we got in service and food quality.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality and service at our hotel restaurant. The view and ambience were low key and welcome after a couple evenings of loud downtown dining experiences.

Overall, I’m kind of disappointed. The blueberry pie was quite good! I do recommend that. But the clam chowder didn’t have much flavor, salt and pepper didn’t help. The fish and chip also didn’t have a lot of flavor. But my issue was the service, I told the waitress I didn’t want to items listed and she brought them. They couldn’t be reused so they had to be thrown away, it was a waste. No one checked in to see how I was doing and if I needed anything. For the price you pay, the food should be better.
Overall, service was meh, the food was pretty meh also. I don’t think I would go back.

Good atmosphere and good service. Nice spot for lunch if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of downtown Bar Harbor with good parking options and a decent view of the harbor. The lobster bisque was ok more ocean tasting than others but if you like that then I’m sure it’s excellent. Had some chunks of meat which is great. The crab dip was really delish. Salads were ok. There was a small arts market set up outside and we checked that out afterwards.

Staying at the hotel here with my husband. Called to order last night and was told with a little irritation that they don't offer room service, so we got pickup instead to take to the room. The menu was changed from their website and their Facebook site in multiple ways, which was a bit disappointing, but we went with it. The order took about 20 mins longer to pickup than we were estimated. The mushroom ravioli was pretty good, but the asparagus on the side was left rather untreated, barely even salted. The fish and chips were really soggy, and the tartar sauce tasted of mostly just mayonnaise. Wanted to give them another try today, but after being told multiple times that they opened at 11 (and it being on their website)...when we called at 11:26 we were angrily told that we couldn't order until 11:30. Odd behavior, every interaction was as if we were bothering them...just by trying to get food at their restaurant. Shrug, tons of places downtown to eat...no need to get sassed for trying to order food lol.

Server came to our table to take our order. Once drinks were delivered, we had no check-ins. Water wasn't refilled, When my dining companion needed something, he had to motion for attention. I saw other waitstaff regularly visiting their tables, however. One of the meals ordered, the salmon, was tasty. Not so the fish and chips. It was cold and tasteless, after mistakenly going to 2 other tables. I specifically ordered that meal because of the reviews. I have never returned food, but regret that I didn't tonight, or speak up earlier. That's my fault. After asking for the bill, I did voice my displeasure, paid in full but did not leave a generous tip.

Well, food is good. No major complaints in Bar harbor. Only one thing made me write this comment: the waiter gave me an uncleaned glass with previous person’s lip stick on it. Personally I am not a high standard on hygiene but if I paid the tips at least I got general service, right? This is below the standard.
The waiter changed the glass after I pointed out and apologized to me, however, they deserved a 1-star. This is not something I would expect even in a developing country.
