It's a decent Chinese takeout place. Food is good, and service is fair. There are some tables and chairs, so you can sit down and eat your food if there's any empty seat. Food is served in a takeout container (photos). Among many expensive eateries and restaurants in Bar Harbor, this is one of a few reasonable choices of eatery for sure. Closed on Sunday & Monday.Parking: No parking lot for this joint, and paid street parking is very hard to find especially depending on the time of the day.

Terrible food. Flavorless pork lo mein (which I didn’t think possible), cold greasy egg rolls and terrible chicken in garlic sauce.

China Joy is located right in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor, ME. They have extremely friendly service, modest pricing, and really fresh good quality food! They accommodate vegans, just ask :) We ordered General Tso tofu, mixed vegetables, broccoli with fresh ginger sauce, eggplant fried tofu with hot garlic sauce, and the broccoli with bean curd, snow peas, and mushrooms. Everything was delicious, the broccoli with fresh ginger sauce was absolutely amazing -- if you like more authentic East Asian food (I like American style as well) then you will love this broccoli dish! Large portions, steamed rice was perfect, no outdoor seating, kitchen looked really clean from what I saw, definitely would recommend this spot!

I ordered the thick, flat noodles. They gave me the different type. The other one is the egg with fried rice, but there is no egg, only rice. I am very disappointed, because my family and I came this Chinese restaurant every time when we were in Bar Harbor, ME. We won’t be back again.

Horrible establishment. The owner was extreamly rude and unwelcoming to me and my entire family. She helped customers who came in after us first and cancelled our order. The place is also extremely dirty and grimey

I was a bit concerned when I read some of the reviews saying the food was not as good as I had hoped. But I found the food quite acceptable and tasty. It is true, that it's basically only takeout, however, you can eat at their tables. The owner said they simply have trouble keeping staff and therefore they cannot wait the tables. We were served in takeout containers with plastic utensils, which is just fine. There were not very many guests so we had a great environment for chatting. The place was clean, and prices very reasonable. That is hard to find in Bar Harbor!
Absolutely disgusting. Chicken lo mein tasted like seafood. Fried rice was so bland. I waited for this place to open all winter. I enjoy Chinese food. This is by far the worst i ever had. Sorry Bar Harbor. And it was very cold inside the establishment

I have never seen such a horrible restaurant! We were served on cardboard plates with plastic cutlery our dishes arrived in bags or boxes.Poor quality food! And the owner does not say hello or goodbye. And grumbles when we tell her that she made a mistake in the orderNEVER AGAIN!

Good Chinese food. The food quality is about what you would expect for a Chinese restaurant in the US. I recommend the cashew chicken. They added plenty of cashews! Also, ask for extra spice, not just spicy.Parking: Paid street parking only
