I'm not sure why this restaurant has gotten such average reviews. We went there for our anniversary dinner and the food was excellent. I had duck confit and it was amazing. We shared the whipped blueberry cheesecake and plan to go back again just for that. Highly recommend.

The view in this place is unbelievable.Breakfast was really good. We had the lobster frittata and the French toast.Service was incredible. Waiters were amazing with my 1y old baby and they even gifted him a lobster stuffed animal and kept him distracted for a bitThey also had gluten free options for breakfast

This restaurant is amazing! The food is absolutely delicious, and the view looking out over the Gulf of Maine cannot be beat! What made this even better was Sabrina, our server. Friendly, ever available, and so so polite! I’m not sure I’ve had better service anywhere!

We had a great dining experience at the reading room. We ordered the lazy lobster and the filet. My wife has seafood allergies and Chef T came to our table to let us know the precautions that his kitchen takes in dealing with guest with food allergies. Afte our meal Chef T made another visit to our table to check on us and to get our thought on our food. Very impressive to us. The view was great while dining looking over the harbor. Highly recommended the ready room. Thank you Chef T for an amazing dining experience and your level of concern for seafood allergies as well as your chef expertise.

Amazing food, wine, and dessert! We enjoyed the surf and turf and the swordfish as well as the whipped blueberry cheesecake for dessert. Only thing we didn’t like was how hot/warm it was inside the restaurant. Could’ve turned the fireplace off given that it was already warm. But overall great food and experience!

Of all of our meals in Bar Harbor, dinner here was far and away above the rest. Beautiful table-side views of the harbor, exceptional service, food was outstanding and the pianist was a nice added touch. Highly recommend securing a reservation at this fine dining experience inside the Bar Harbor Inn.
The Reading Room is a superb restaurant in a superb hotel. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable on the menu. The kitchen and bar provided exquisite fare. Well done!

We had a birthday reservation on Saturday at 6:00 pm. I checked in the day before to confirm and the person helping me suggested changing the time to 5:15 pm to take advantage to the beautiful scenery outdoors. So glad we diid! It was amazing. The service was outstanding and the food was even more so delicious.

Food incredibly average for the price. The reason I am rating two stars is because of the service. The waiter could not have been less interested in serving us. Did not introduce himself or review the menu at all. When he came to take our order he took out his pen and pad and stared at me without saying a word. So bizarre and uncomfortable. Would not return here. Only redeeming quality was the pianist.

Excellent dinner in an amazing environment. The view is unmatched in Bar Harbor. The service is what you'd expect in a landmark building. Could not have been better. The piano player added to an already spectacular ambiance. The food was outstanding. The Knife and Fork Caesar salad was unique and delicious. The scallops and short ribs were both outstanding, as was the Coconut Panna Cotta. This was our most memorable night in Bar Harbor.

My husband and I went on a Royal Carribean Cruise 3 years ago. And fell in love with Bar Harbor. Our 2nd time back to The Bar Harbor Inn And Spa. The entire staff is amazing. We dined at the Reading Room. Our waiter Serge on the first night super friendly and very responsive to our needs. We order room service for breakfast. Which was very enjoyable. We walked around the property for just the most breathtaking views. We had lunch at The Terrance Grill, amazing. We also had the pleasure of meeting Alax. He is such an impressive waiter very personable. He served us breakfast. We took a drive to Arcadia National Park. Highly recommend. The veiws from Cadillac Mountain are just breathtaking. We drove to ThunderHole, then for a walk around Jorden’s Pond. After a very special day. We then had drinks at the Oasis Lounge while we waited for our table to be ready. Brittanee is the bartender and she is just amazing. When our table was ready we again had the pleasure of Alax being our waiter. Clam Chowder, Crab Cakes, Lobster tails Filet Mignon, Rack of Lamb, and for Dessert blueberry pie of course. Wow what a great ending to a Perfect Day. Thank You Alax! The room attendant Stephanie is spectacular, very friendly. The staff at the front desk is very friendly and was very helpful with all of our needs and questions. Over all perfect experience this is why we come back every year!! Thank you for all your great work you all do.
