We drove by this place and I knew immediately it would be great. We were not disappointed. Fantastic food and service, great wine and cocktails, and a perfect way to spend an evening and eat a meal you won't forget.

We did the tasting menu and felt this was a great way to try most of the menu. This was a satisfying amount of food. We loved the homemade pastas, particularly the cacio e Pepe. The duck confit and the pork tenderloin ramen were fantastic and the flavors all worked very well together. Really excellent service from the entire staff!

Wife and I visited a few months ago. First time in Bar Harbor and this was a great choice. Small, classy but comfortable environment. Service was terrific. Despite the recommendation of the testing menu, we ordered a la carte. Everything was very good. Not inexpensive, but worth it. Small but carefully-crafted, unique wine-by-the-glass menu.

Excellent gem in Bar Harbor. A bit pricey but well worth it. Our wait staff was excellent. Menu choices great. Good wine list. Great restaurant for a special occasion.

We had a fabulous dinner here. Madilynn, our waitress, was friendly and helpful (as were all the staff). We tired the tasting menu and left completely stuffed. We tried the shrimp appetizer, lobster and coconut bisque, lobster bolognese, cacio e pepe, poached salmon, cioppino, cremeux and parsnip cake. Everything was divine. We also modified the apple soda drink (adding rye and adding vodka), making two of the best drinks ever.

The tables are too close to eachother and the restaurant in general is quite loud. The food was tasty but not worth the price, especially some portions are pretty small. With prices like these and expected tips of at least 20% I also expect outstanding service. You always wait for both guests to be done with their meals before you take their plates. Unfortunately it was not the case here. One server always took away one of our plates, even thought the other person was still eating. On the other hand the empty cocktail glasses were waiting to be taken away, even though new cocktails arrived.

Unique combinations for exceptional entrées. We both had the lobster bisque and rabbit with risotto. I was annoyed by a $4 charge for six 2- inch cubes of bread. Was also very noisy at times.Parking: Limited parking available.

My wife and I went here for dinner. Honestly, we were very underwhelmed. Staff wasn’t very friendly, and they took a long time to bring foods, drinks, and check. We ordered 3 dishes, sent back one, and had a fourth. All 4 dishes were very bland and under-seasoned (ironic since they have “Salt” in the name). Because of the poor food and service, felt very overpriced and not the experience we wanted for a date night.

We enjoyed truly gourmet dining in a comfortable setting outside on the deck. Spanish octopus, bisque, pappardelle, desserts, and service were all amazing and perfect.

Not a fan. Hard to pick a special date night when you’re just traveling through town. Unfortunately everything was bland. Definitely focused too much on the looks of the dishes and not the taste. Ended up sending food back because it was just so bland. Not worth the price at all. The environment was nice although the outdoor chairs were rather uncomfortable which made our wait seem much longer. Staff was fine but not very welcoming.

One of the best places I've been to in Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor has to feed the masses. This place is not for the masses. Cocktails were awesome. We did the tasting menu and wine pairing to try as much of the menu as possible. Innovative dishes, farm to table, homemade pasta in the dishes. Crazy flavors. Look there's a grilled piece of fish and then their's Salt and Steel. Two totally different experiences.

This was my second visit to Salt and Steel. A great experience in terms of food, atmosphere, and service. I had the Lobster Bolognese which was out of this world. I got the best of Maine blended with authentic Italian style Bolognese. A real treat. For a starter I had the heirloom tomato salad; this was my first experience with dukkah. Interesting and well worth it. Can't wait to go again.
