Stopped on for coffee and breakfast sandwiches, and they were so good we came back to try their lunch ones same day.Blueberry pie latte was so good we got it both times.

Wandered in looking for caffeine and a bite. Their espresso drinks were on point - and their breakfast sandwiches were legitimately some of the best we’ve had. Toasty and gooey and savory - chef’s kiss!

Our favorite cafe in Bar Harbor. The latte choices are unique and rich. Special shout out to the lavender one. They have many options for your caffeine needs as well as sandwiches. The place was never crowded in the morning and there are lots of cachkies, local canned beer, sauces, syrups+ to look at while we waited for our stuff. I was impressed with the vegan options and how quiet it was for such a prime location on the strip.Parking: Paid street parking, easy to find parking in the morning.

My experience was otherwise good here while we were in the area. The Maple Latte was decent and the breakfast sandwiches were okay. Slightly expensive, but standard for a tourist area. Staff were also nice. The menu is scattered on the back wall and very misleading, arguably to the point of a potential health hazard. I ordered a Moxiecano and a Lobster BLT to go today, I assumed that the Lobster BLT would be with meat since the menu did not specify veggie bacon unlike the "Veggie BLT" and putting vegetarian meat on a sandwich that already has real Lobster doesn't make any sense. The sandwich was also $33 which to me implied it would be substantial and with meat. The Moxiecano was gross. I'm sure people like it and the staff seemed to imply this was the case to me, so I'm not really upset about this. My major issue though is how bad the sandwich was. It hardly had lettuce and tomatoes, plus the toast was mediocre barely toasted thin white bread. However, the worst part for me was that the bacon was clearly veggie bacon. I eat veggie bacon ocassionally, but I wouldn't have paid $33 for this sandwich if I had known ahead of time. And not labeling your food accurately has to be a massive risk for an allergic reaction which is a health hazard. Frankly, I just want to know what I'm putting in my mouth.

Stopped here every morning during our stay in Bar Harbor. The coffee and Chai were amazing… but more so the bright spirits that work there were a pleasure! And last but not least the music that was playing made us dance both in the shop and all morning long!Gotta love Miley and Rhianna! What a perfect way to wake up and start the day!!!!

Teenager behind the counter lied when I asked him if everything came with vegan bacon, DISGUSTING ? not to mention two sandwiches, a latte and lemonade came to $60 ??

This is a decent spot located in Bar Harbor, Maine where you can get a sit-down meal or take some sandwiches or snacks for your daily trip around the town or going to Acadia national Park!

The bagel was respectable and the cheddar was bangin quality! The guava smoothie was very delicious. Staff is friendly. No bathroom though. I know there is a public bathroom but there should be one for paying customers too, and the public one is kinda far for some elderly people.

The Independent Cafe was an amazing little breakfast/lunch spot. I got a cappuccino, vanilla latte, and avocado toast/sandwich. The coffees were delicious and so was the food. The service was quick and staff were friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick bite in Bar Harbor. The only downside was no place sit and dine-in or even a bench outside to eat.

Had the best experience going in here. Mila was the best, I think she said she was from Argentina or something. Absolute doll. Made my sandwich with the utmost of care and was the friendliest face I saw all day. After taking the first sip of my drink before leaving, the man who said he was manager (mustache man) checked to see how the service was as well as to see how I was enjoying my maple latte. Gave him my honest answer which somehow lead to a 5 minute conversation about guitars, I think he mistook my saxophone case for a guitar case but it's okay. We had a good chat and I proceeded with my day. Almost certainly will return

They don’t handle food safely - the woman working the counter wore the same gloves taking money as handling food, their staff didn’t understand cross contamination and allergy prevention, kept food in a broken and dirty display cooler. Prices are ludicrous, but that’s to be expected in a seasonal tourist town. Went elsewhere.

Asked for dark roast, coffee seemed watered down, tasteless. Servers were more interested in talking to themselves. Very disappointed. Had a few sips and threw it away. This is one of the lower rated spots near town center, should have gone elsewhere....and did for the next cup.

Our family stopped by to grab a quick bite for lunch. We ordered two Rich Rolls and one #5 sandwich. We were the only people there and our order took at least fifteen minutes to prepare. The staff were talking the entire time, but we weren’t especially bothered, as the store had a nice selection of goods to browse. When our order was ready, a staff member was quite irritated when we asked what the sandwiches were to make sure it was ours. We left to eat in our hotel, and were definitely disappointed by the food. The Rich Roll was a sad excuse for a sandwich, basically bread with some avocado spread on it and some red pepper flakes. One of them was especially bare. The aioli tasted like metal and the bread was soggy and barely toasted. All sandwiches were flavorless and bland. We were left hungry and grossed out. Terrible experience. Each sandwich was over ten dollars. Not worth a penny.
