The Magic Lantern Theater holds a special place in my family’s heart. We’ve been coming here since the 1980s, and it’s become a beloved tradition to visit at least once every summer.
There’s just something magical about the atmosphere. The historic charm of the theater transports you back to a simpler time—a feeling that’s increasingly rare these days. Whether it's catching a movie or just soaking in the nostalgic surroundings, every visit feels like stepping into a piece of our own family history.
The pub inside is also a great bonus, offering a solid selection of food and drinks for all ages. It’s the perfect place to relax before or after a movie, and it adds to the welcoming, small-town feel that makes the Magic Lantern so special.
If you ever find yourself near Bridgton, visiting The Magic Lantern Theater isn’t just recommended—it’s a must.

Awesome movie theater! Great movies😎
We saw a 4:00 movie here and it was a great experience. The employees are nice the place is clean and decorated really cool. The seats were comfortable. I highly recommend this. There are restaurants in the area as will as a pub in the theater. Great experience and will be coming back
This place is amazing. It has no business being this good of a theatre because honestly it doesnt need to be. Its the only one in the area. I was blown away by this place.
An excellent Smalltown Theatre Complex, that not only Shows Movies… but has a Conference Room and Performance Stage. Theater is filled with Bridgton Movie Theater Relics including Magic Lanterns , Lantern Slides, Early Projectors , Piano, Movie Posters , Sheet Music and Signs from the Mayfair , State, Brookside and First Magic Lantern Theater. A well known Local Horror Author Haunts it on Occasion
Asked TWO employees if there were seats, told twice that less than half were taken, went upstairs and only found these seats available for our group. 10/10 Won't go again.

Coolest old school theater around, Bridgeton is the cinema spot in Maine.
I grew up, going to the Magic lantern in beautiful Bridgton Maine. Taking the old World charm from the original building was done beautifully, the look and feel of the theater is wonderful. There is a pub available for parties and private showings and events. Wonderful theater rooms with very comfortable seating and Dolby surroundsound. 21+ balconies with the availability of food and beverage delivery. A classic feel theater in a beautiful town. Highly recommended!
This place is such a little gem in our town for people of all ages. I love their meeting room space and especially how they hold so many events for the kiddos;
The theater was nice and clean.Bought my ticket online and waited about 5 mins to be served, which was good.Had people behind me who talked all through the movie and people next to me who talked through the movie.But, the theater was awesome
Simply delightful old venue, nooks, crannies, and adult only balconies. Charming restored venu for movies, pub and more.
