The pastrami sandwich here in Calis Maine is the best i have eaten, and I have eaten a lot of pastrami over the years. The service was good, the staff was friendly and the price was fair. I stop in here everytime I am in Maine. I will be back.

Good food and a great small town atmosphere. The owners know many and remember all.

While the bread is fresh (and the best part) the filling in the sandwich was lacking.
Perhaps charge a little more and fill the sandwich?

Good bread, but waited 32 minutes for two subs that had only had 2 slice of meat and cheese each w/ limited veggies that couldn’t even make it to the top of the bread. For the price, there is a chain sub shop down the street that a much better value. $3.25 for the “meal “ deal to add in a 16oz bottled soda and small bag of chips isn’t great either.

I ordered the beast.I was greatly disappointed. This was a roast beef and bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich and it came with two to three thinly sliced portions of roast beef on a full 12-in plus sub with bacon. No essentially the heart and soul of this sandwich should have been roast beef and I'm not a beef monger but this sandwich was so lacking in substance that between the minimalized amount of roast beef I actually received and the already prepared and microwaved and superbly thinly sliced bacon it was a borderline joke. The owner of the restaurant was so congenial but I can't speak much for the person who made my sandwich. It was an absolute insult to ordinarily acceptable cuisinary expectations. It left me to wonder if I had said something insulting while waiting for my sandwich to be made but then upon my recollection I realized that no such dirty deed had occurred. This was just penny pinching at its finest and to my demise at its worst.$13 for roast beef sub with two to three thinly sliced and barely recognizable portions of roast beef and a couple of slices of microwaved bacon.Sad AF..

The lobster subs are great and the price can't be beat! I also loved the old country music they were playing when I stopped in. I was sad that they were closed when I tried to visit on Columbus Day, but I hope to get back to Calais for another great sandwich someday.

There are limited lunch options in town. I have driven here 11 times in the past 6 weeks. Only once of 11 times were they actually open. Various days and hours. Always posted as open. Never open.
