Book nook is a good idea but the food and service is terrible. Way overpriced and just an all around not recommendable experience.

Guest chefs for what? Went here and the food was ill prepared at best similarly to the front end. Ambiance was interesting the book nook idea is cool but staff and chefs leave much to be desired.
Caught Ann’s on an off night. Certainly food was good, but unfortunately service and kitchen were short staffed and server was very inexperienced.

Ann's has a very unique atmosphere for this area. Intimate and sheik. They give you complimentary pita and guacamole, and their salads are excellent. I had their chicken marsala and it was very tender but maybe a touch too much rosemary. The sides were very good. Jennifer had the tomato soup as her entree (which she regularly orders) along with the warm burrata salad (again both excellent). Raye was an excellent server!
Ann's Book Bistro has redesigned the interior, since our last visit, which has resulted in transitioning to a swank and a more comfortable but not formal space. As usual, service was excellent, to the credit of Chauncy and Linda, and the food very good and well presented. We will be back soon.
We had such a great time at Ann's. The service was attentive, the food was fabulous! It is now on our list of favorite Date Night restaurants when we visit Damariscotta. We will be back!❤️
Cute little cozy bistro. Great friendly staff. Food choices are different and interesting. Salmon crudo and hummus was delicious but menu is very overpriced.

Wow! What a gem of a restaurant just outside of downtown Damariscotta! Loved the atmosphere surrounded by books about theater, a tribute to the owners.Service was fantastic. Drinks were good and an interesting beer list. Had a charcuterie with the most delicious hummus and a nice balance of meat, cheese, and fruit. Shared the paella- delicious! Plenty for more than two. Lightly but flavorfully spiced and lots of seafood. Other meals at the table were curry shrimp that was warm and well spiced, the perfect carbonara, and a huge burger. Wished we had tried some sides like the broccoli rabe and roasted carrots. They looked great at a neighboring table. Wished we had room for dessert- a strawberry rhubarb cheesecake. Next time! We will definitely be back! It's pricy but worth it with the attention to detail in each dish and the highest quality of food and service. Glad we found this!
Ann's Book Bistro is a cozy, inviting place for a meal. The food is consistently excellent and creative, and the staff makes the experience extraordinary. When the weather is warm, the patio outside is wonderful.

Such a sweet place! We were looking for somewhere to eat before catching a show at the Waldo (also lovely). We're from an hour south and weren't sure what would be open in the dead of winter - what a pleasant surprise! The decor is really cute and thoughtful - it's clear that there's a lot of personal flair. The service was attentive and welcoming. The menu was the perfect size with the emphasis on fresh veg and proteins. Plenty of options for folks with different tastes. Both of our dishes were spot-on: The pasta with lobster tail was cooked perfectly (seriously - it might be a simple dish, but cooks know how hard it is to get the balance right), and the salmon burger was freshly made - with a lovely side of pickled fruit and veg that paired SO WELL with the earthy salmon. Again, dead of winter. The prices are a little spendy, but whatever. This isn't Moody's. The complimentary fresh flatbread and bean spread we were served prior to our meal ALONE would have been a $10 appetizer in Portland, and the wine list was very reasonable. Honestly, just a really cute place with lovely food and follks - worth the drive for dinner and a movie if you are looking for something special. Classy food, unpretentious environment. Try it!
Vegetarian options: For what it's worth, I am pescatarian - but I am always mindful to patronize eateries with a moderate to broad selection of plant-forward offerings. This place had multiple plant-forward options. I had no issue navigating the menu, and the person who served us was very helpful.

Great idea to feature different Ethnic menu nights. Enjoyed the Moroccan appetizer and tagine. Lovely wine selection and Greg is always a professional and easy going as wait staff.
We are local and heard of this spot by word of mouth, finally tried it and we’re not disappointed! Great atmosphere! The waitstaff were kind and professional, and the food was fantastic! Instead of bread and butter, they served naan-style flatbreads with a delicious hummus. We had the Argentinian Churrasco special which was *perfect.* our waiter made me a mocktail even though it wasn’t on the menu. We will most certainly be back!!
Dietary restrictions: They are very accommodating!

This is a charming place for dinner full of flavor. It is a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy an intimate meal with friends. The service is helpful, friendly and efficient . From the warm bread to the entrees, the food is delightful and the presentation superb. The only thing that is bothersome is that the temperature is a bit chilly. I suggest dressing warmly on cold nights.
