I stopped here while traveling for work for lunch. I expected the typical coffee shop sandwich. You know, hard bread, cold, bland, soggy meat etc.

But boy was I surprised! Hands down one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in such a long time. If there was a sandwich rainbow ? this place would make the sandwich pots of gold!! ? I ordered the 236’er… everything was fresh and was made with quality ingredients. The staff were very polite and the vibe of the cafe was great. Such a cool find that was unexpected. 10/10 recommend trying this spot

It should be illegal to not have a public restroom for paying customers.

I’ve been a longtime fan of White Heron and have enjoyed the opportunity to get their delicious coffee and vegan food options in Maine now. They always have a vegan option for a pastry and several of there meals can be made vegan. They’ve recently stopped charging extra for vegan milk which I greatly appreciate.

No vegan tax here! Get almond or oat milk with no upcharge. Everything served in compostable packaging. Mostly the same food and drink options as the Portsmouth location. A walk-up takeout window accessed from outside, or pop in to order. No inside seating though. Punch cards from Portsmouth aren’t valid - they have their own. All else is the same excellence I’ve loved from their original location. The tofu wrap is delicious! As are the vegan baked goods.

Don't drive by. This is worth the stop. We had lunch - North Country Canadian Bacon, Turkey, Cabot Cheddar, Maple Mustard, Lemon Aioli & Lettuce on Borealis Bread, Wrap or Udi's GF Bread sandwich and my husband had a salad with fresh greens and fresh turkey and a balsamic dressing. All made in house. They even roast their own coffee and make their own tea blends. Their bakery items - scones and cookies looked amazing. We'll be back!

This adorable tiny little coffee/tea shop is absolutely amazing. There are allergen friendly options for both beverages and food. There are also a lot of fun local gift options.Staff is super nice and despite long lines, comes out decently quickly, but more importantly delicious. The coffee is beyond tasty. The seasonal specials are a must try. The almond honey latte (dairy free) was easily one of the best coffees I've ever had.

Dietary restrictions: Dairy free milk available- almond and oatThey also had wheat free and vegan food items.

Yum!!! Their tofu/chicken bowls are SO good and healthy. I always get extra of their delicious sauces (green curry one is amazing, low spicy). Their chia raspberry pudding is also the bomb! I live an hour away but always stop here when on a long drive down I95. Please open a location north of Portland! ?(FYI - only outdoor seating)

The White Heron on 236 in Eliot is basically a pick up (not sure if they deliver). Coffee and sandwiches. This place is hopping! I've driven by but never came inside till the other day. Stay line but moved quickly. There really isn't a place to site and eat inside. They have a been with 3 stools inside and 5 chairs outside (no table). They were friendly and service was great. My friend spilled her coffee just after going outside and they made her another one very quickly. If you're in the area and looking for a quick sandwich & coffee or tea, check them out.

My family is addicted to this place, specifically my little brother. They know our names and orders by heart now, and I'm pretty sure we know their names well too now. Right at home in Eliot where everyone seems to know each other. Two of my classmates from school work here and it seems that they like the job a lot—I suppose you can't complain when you only ever have to work seven hours at most and the whole time is spent talking with customers and coworkers. Stuff is a bit pricey but that's standard fare for stuff now (unfortunately), so at least it's all good too. Not the sort of place I would patronize regularly if I had the choice for myself, but I do not control how my parents choose to spend their money, and in the end I can't complain about supporting local business—it all comes down to preference.

Kid-friendliness: Pretty youthful crowd themselves so of course they're good with kids.

Pro: Product quality is worlds better than DD and much more natural than Starbucks.Con: Maybe it is because I am slightly older than the service personnel but the lack of greetings, eye contact, audible responses, and awkward social queues make for awkward visits and doesn’t to much toward making me feel like a valued customer. (Yes, I get it, how much can I really expect from someone working an entry level job?)Hope this helps. Would definitely recommend coffee from here.

What a nice little place! They have a great selection of delicious coffee, and their food is delicious! My boyfriend had the Canadian bacon wrap, and it was absolutely amazing! My oat milk mocha latte was amazing too! On top of this, the staff are extremely nice! Be prepared to spend a bit, but it is our duty to shop local and support our communities!
