Fantastic cocktails and our meal was extremely good! We had the mussels first, fresh and flavorful. The main course was boneless pork chops, sonvery good and tender. Limited menu which I appreciated since it was of what was in season. Nice big bar.

I had the asparagus soup and the eggplant dish. The latter was deep fried. Not what I expected. It was ok but not great. Ambience was nice and friendly service.

We LOVE IT I ordered halibut and that was best meal for me on whole menu. Connection of flavors is amazing.. very very good. Definitely coming back. We tried few more things and wanna say that pork chop is the best one that I ever tried (Can be a bit heavier for stomach if we compare w halibut, but definitely 1000/10 both) Duck was fine, not big fan of that, when you see portion it’s looking small, but at the end is perfect size. Burrata w peach was delicious as well šŸ˜• we waited like an hour for a food, but it was worth it

Food was absolutely delicious!! Service was subpar. Seemed uninterested in taking care of us, answering questions, brought us the wrong check and another server had to take our payment so that we could leave.

This was our first trip to explore some of the towns around Acadia National Park. I’m expecting it to be the typical cool lil coastal towns with ent ā€œMainerā€ simplicity. And 99 percent of it so far has been just that. Provender however is the one percent I did not expect! This place rivals some of the finer places I’ve been in both NYC and San Fran Cisco. First off, what a gem of a lil place with its ornate wood 40’s feel . The folks that started this great eatery were so fortunate to find this venue. Their menu just adds to the extrinsicity of the venue. Let’s get to that! I started with a most delicious Old fashioned as it just seemed to be the perfect pick for the feel of the place. I had seen the awards for meat mussels in Maine so that had to be the feature pick for me and wow did it deliver. I ordered the appetizer mussels expecting the usual small plates of the day that seems to be the norm and wow was I taken aback when the bucket got delivered, especially for the modest price of $18! And wow! This was literally the best mussel dish I’ve ever tasted and the grilled rye for dipping …. No words! This was s a full meal on and of itself and literally worth the drive from ar Harbor to have them and to experience this lil gem. I’d easily drive 90 minutes for the food here . I also ordered the Tartare. I don’t usually have a hard time describing my consumption choices and I’ve had lots of tartare’s from Many places but this …….. The only thing I can say is you will either think it’s one of the most exquisite and experimental foods you’ve ever consumed… or you just won’t like it. Only a true foodie will appreciate the virgin-ness of the flavor and feel. Never ever expected to come across what anywhere would be a 2 week wait to get into in Ellsworth ME. The flavors were just dynamic and memorable. If your an everyday eater this may not be your place, but if you think your a foodie looking for the next gem in the flannel of coastal quinine … come, enjoy and reminisce afterwards

This is our favorite restaurant Downeast. Tonight when I asked if I could just have olive oil on my salad do to my allergies, the chef personally brought out some speciality olive oils for us to sample, and one that was amazingly light and refreshing. Not to mention our main courses and desserts were excellent too. Great food and great service.

The mussels and the duck were fantastic. Like best mussels I've ever had kind of fantastic. Staff is very friendly and atmosphere is just what the photos make it look like.

Provender Kitchen + Bar A Remarkable Culinary Experience From the moment we arrived, the evening unfolded as a masterclass in flavor, creativity, and precision. We began with the mussels—heralded by our server as ā€œthe best in the worldā€ā€”and, to our delight, they more than lived up to the claim. Each mussel was impeccably cooked: plump, tender, and bathed in a broth of fresh tomatoes, onions, and herbs that was nothing short of exquisite. The lobster roll appetizer followed, served warm and buttery, with meat that was moist, delicately seasoned, and undeniably fresh. It struck a perfect balance between richness and refinement. For our main course, every member of our party chose the halibut with gnocchi—a unanimous decision that proved wise. The halibut was flawlessly baked, its flaky interior paired beautifully with pillowy gnocchi and a sauce that showcased the kitchen’s deft hand with both technique and seasoning. Dessert was a silky, decadent chocolate mousse—elegantly presented and deeply satisfying. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and contributed meaningfully to an already stellar dining experience. Without hesitation, I would recommend this restaurant to even the most discerning of diners. A true gem.

Amazing quality and execution. Fantastic tomato salad thanks to excellent tomatoes and seasoning; melt in your mouth halibut, great historic space and a service team that was warm, professional and in synch. If this restaurant were in even a mid-sized city, you’d never be able to get a reservation.

Octopus and halibut were great. Both the peaches salad and peaches dessert were bland, they were not well ripen - not at the same level than the other dishes.

Small restaurant, decorated in old style. Maine cuisine, with creative touches, very well crafted and presented. A pleasant surprise in Ellsworth.

The duck I ordered was delicious. At medium rare, it was perfectly cooked. There were many delicious flavors and textures on the plate. My personal preference would be for less side dishes but more of each. Our salad was delicious as was our drink. The service was prompt and friendly. We love this place! It has a cozy elegant, old-world feel.
