Provender is a cut above the rest, hands down. Everything is flawless - but you need to try the mussels, the burger and the chicken parm with a side of pasta (if you’re lucky enough to go while it’s on the menu). The torte was also wonderful for dessert.
It is clear how much the chef and all of the staff really care, down to the freshness of every single ingredient. There is no restaurant in town that even comes close.

I wish I had taken a picture. I had Chicken Parmesan. The waitress/hostess was very efficient and nice. It's beautiful inside.

Last night a gang of six of us showed up with no reservation, each thinking the other had made the arrangements. From start to finish the hostess, the staff, and the bartender were the most accommodating, understanding and professional team. The appetizers (especially the mussels) and the mains (especially the chicken parm and the steak) were superlative, followed by delicious creme brûlée (just the right texture). Fantastic meal from start to finish and truly appreciated service! Thank you Provender!

Went for Hell Night. I'm from Texas and it was a doozy! Even the cocktails were spicy! Highly recommend getting milk with the meal!

The food and drinks were actually very good. The Black Cod was surprisingly flavorful, as I usually find cods to be boring. The duck meat was cooked properly, except, the skin was chewy and non edible. It would have been much better if they made the skin crispy.
The crispy polenta was tasty, and paired well with the balsamic vinaigrette, although I think it would have been even better if they used a very thick balsamic as opposed to the liquidy version.
The salad was fresh, nothing to complain about
But many restaurants fall to the same trap: dessert. To be fair we only ordered 1 dessert but suffice to say: do not order that Dubai Chocolate Cookies. It was less than pedestrian. Your store bought Oreos probably tasted better. I hate to be harsh but it was that disappointing.
But other than that, I would recommend this restaurant, just get a different dessert, or get it somewhere else altogether
You can make a reservation using the Tock app.
There's no dedicated parking lot, but it wasn't hard to find street parking.

Fantastic cocktails and our meal was extremely good! We had the mussels first, fresh and flavorful. The main course was boneless pork chops, sonvery good and tender. Limited menu which I appreciated since it was of what was in season. Nice big bar.
Restaurantji Recommends
I had the asparagus soup and the eggplant dish. The latter was deep fried. Not what I expected. It was ok but not great. Ambience was nice and friendly service.
We love this restaurant, the food is AWESOME and so is the service! It's a gem, not to be missed! Reservations are always a good idea.
We LOVE IT I ordered halibut and that was best meal for me on whole menu. Connection of flavors is amazing.. very very good. Definitely coming back. We tried few more things and wanna say that pork chop is the best one that I ever tried (Can be a bit heavier for stomach if we compare w halibut, but definitely 1000/10 both) Duck was fine, not big fan of that, when you see portion it’s looking small, but at the end is perfect size. Burrata w peach was delicious as well 😕 we waited like an hour for a food, but it was worth it
Food was absolutely delicious!! Service was subpar. Seemed uninterested in taking care of us, answering questions, brought us the wrong check and another server had to take our payment so that we could leave.
This was our first trip to explore some of the towns around Acadia National Park. I’m expecting it to be the typical cool lil coastal towns with ent “Mainer” simplicity. And 99 percent of it so far has been just that. Provender however is the one percent I did not expect! This place rivals some of the finer places I’ve been in both NYC and San Fran Cisco. First off, what a gem of a lil place with its ornate wood 40’s feel . The folks that started this great eatery were so fortunate to find this venue. Their menu just adds to the extrinsicity of the venue. Let’s get to that! I started with a most delicious Old fashioned as it just seemed to be the perfect pick for the feel of the place. I had seen the awards for meat mussels in Maine so that had to be the feature pick for me and wow did it deliver. I ordered the appetizer mussels expecting the usual small plates of the day that seems to be the norm and wow was I taken aback when the bucket got delivered, especially for the modest price of $18! And wow! This was literally the best mussel dish I’ve ever tasted and the grilled rye for dipping …. No words! This was s a full meal on and of itself and literally worth the drive from ar Harbor to have them and to experience this lil gem. I’d easily drive 90 minutes for the food here . I also ordered the Tartare. I don’t usually have a hard time describing my consumption choices and I’ve had lots of tartare’s from Many places but this …….. The only thing I can say is you will either think it’s one of the most exquisite and experimental foods you’ve ever consumed… or you just won’t like it. Only a true foodie will appreciate the virgin-ness of the flavor and feel. Never ever expected to come across what anywhere would be a 2 week wait to get into in Ellsworth ME. The flavors were just dynamic and memorable. If your an everyday eater this may not be your place, but if you think your a foodie looking for the next gem in the flannel of coastal quinine … come, enjoy and reminisce afterwards
