Good food, summer is way too busy for us locals, but once in a while we get seats at the counter.

Kim held the kitchen open just for us!
The chowder was outstanding, the sourdough bread on the turkey sandwich was amazing. Mostly though, Kim made us feel welcome.

Excellent breakfast/brunch spot. Prices great, especially in this economy. Highly recommend.

Staff was kind, our waitress Sarah made our experience even better.

Great home made cinnamon rolls, and my husband who is obsessed with toast wanted me to tell the world this place has the best toast he tried on our 2 week trip of the East Coast. He also loved their coffee enough to order some to go. I had an everything bagel bacon meatwich and it was savory and delicious. Fresh fruit was great too.

The lox benedict was the best breakfast I've had since I moved up here, hands down

We noticed a few items with crab, some indicated fresh maine crab, others didn't. The waitress assured it was all fresh maine crab, cleaned and picked by the kitchen for all their crab dishes. The crab cake sandwich was delicious, light on the breading, lots of flavor, and flaky crab. It was so much food I prioritized eating the crab cake before my slaw and fries, which were also very good. The slaw wasn't heavily dressed and had a good crunch to it. My husband got the crab cake melt, and he said it was delicious, again crab coming out the sides of the sandwich and very flavorful.

I would love to love Riverside Cafe but...... Fruit plate arrived with ample melon and other stuff but both the melon varieties were so under ripe as to be hard and tasteless. When I mentioned this to the waitress she spent some time telling us how stupid the people were in the kitchen, did not offer any amends and came back with the bill. I just wanted her to alert kitchen staff so as not to serve until real fruit available. I asked for the manager, none available. Some urgent oversight needed there. Sylvia's next time.

If you're into school cafeteria quality food and service, then this is your kind of place.
We had breakfast here at what looked like a nice, busy, casual diner with a great downtown location.
Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our food -- the quantity was fine but the taste and quality was very lacking...for basic breakfast fare!
Service was just perfunctory--staff worked hard but none showed even a basic sign of customer care or friendliness.

Told us it would be 25 min wait. 40 min later sat at our table. After 2 cups of coffee (35min)and still no food( all the other tables surrounding us had no food either) we left $5 on table and left. Not worth the wait
