The food is horrible. My breakfat burrito was crunchy, fell apart n tasteless. My eggs were tiny n dried out n overcooked. The toast was cheap thin. I have gone twice, tried aft first bad experience but second was worse. Wont go again.

A local eatery with comfort food, though the Crab & Cheddar quiche was a welcome surprise. My group also liked the Blueberry stuffed French toast and the Sausage Gravy w/Biscuits. Try the Sriracha syrup for an extra wake-up!

We gave the café another try a year later. Once again the WORST OMELET EVER. Service was a little better, but i think that was our last time for going to the Riverside Café.

11/2024:
We have eaten here several times and the food and service have been o.k. Our most recent experience was TERRIBLE! To start, the woman who brought us the menus was wearing a shirt that was so filthy, it was really gross and disgusting. Our beverages were o.k. And our food order was taken promptly. Once delivered, our server NEVER once came back to our table and asked us how our food was or if we needed anything, even though she was in the vicinity of our table MANY times. We had to flag her down while she was sitting in a booth with some other customers to ask for some water and our check.
TOFU SCRAMBLE was the WORST I've ever had anywhere. And my friend could have used more syrup for his pancakes, but since our server never once came to our table while we were eating, he ate the last 1/3 of them dry.
This experience was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. We have no desire to ever go back there again the next time we're in Ellsworth.

Delicious gem in Ellsworth. We discovered this during our trip to Bar Harbor. It is located on a cute street with vintage shops that we were visiting. The cafe has a super cozy diner-like vibe. The service was great.
We had a turkey sandwich and a fried haddock sandwich. The fries were the best we had during our trip. Their fresh lemonade and OJ was also the best we had. The prices were far better than Bar Harbor and only a short half hour drive away. Definitely recommend if you’re visiting the area and please remember to tip well (at least 20%).

Order the grilled chicken on gluten free bread … waited a half hour, got to my car, I was given a regular bun.
I also asked for chips instead of fries because sometimes fries have gluten. They gave me fries. Took it back in and asked them to remake it. Was told they remade it.

Got back out to my car and they had literally just thrown the chicken and sorry piece of lettuce, tomato and pickle onto gluten free bread. The chicken was dryer than the bread and unseasoned, and the appeal leaves a lot to be desired for paying almost $20.

Regret my decision to stop here, it was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had at any restaurant. Needless to say I walked away starving, unable to eat my food, and my dog got $20 dry, unseasoned chicken that I took off the “sandwich”.

I would have saved more time and money stopping at the store for bread and lunchmeat and it would have tasted 1,000 times better.

Waited for 30 min for a takeout order and the veggie burger had an ice cold patty. Very bad experience

The service was nice. The food was kinda tasteless, the only item that had taste was coffee. It was taste of pure unfiltered tap water.

Superior food & service. I usually have the Lox Benny without cottage fries. The hollandaise sauce is superior. . But have tried several scrambled specials. All excellent.

One of the best breakfast places I have ever been. Food was incredible, portions were huge, and prices were great. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

The place was busy, waited 15 minutes to be sat. We ordered, waiting 20+ minutes for our food, sadly mine never arrived. My husband got his and the waitress said that there was a screwup in the kitchen, so they were just making mine again, 20 more minutes and I still don’t have my food, waitress come and says that they are just starting to make it. I told her don’t.
I worked in a restaurant before if there is a mistake you stop everything and start correcting your error, don’t put the correction at the back of line. 3 other tables received their food, after my husband received his. My husband finishes his, and the waitress comes with the check stating that her manager took off my meal. How could you charge me for a meal that they never delivered? Warning think twice before going.

The service was friendly and quick and you get a lot of food for a great price. However the food left much to be desired. We ordered the egg plates; the potato hash was basic and the scrambled eggs overcooked.
