For under $20, I went home with a large to go container of smoked meats, beans and coleslaw with 2 sides of BBQ sauces of my choice. Great flavor!

Based on reviews, The Outpost BBQ serves some of the best barbecue in Maine. The food is all about comfort, with top of the line quality and each flavor popping and complementing the others. The menu, while limited, is made to perfection. Popular choices include the curly cheesy fries with chicken or pork, which has a good cheese layering and very good portion size. The mac and cheese with any meat is also a favorite. The barnyard sampler and the half rack of ribs are recommended, with the ribs often falling off the bone with good smoke flavor. The brisket sandwich features huge chunks of brisket with a sweet/spicy sauce on a capable bun. Another unique option is the Barnard rolls, an egg roll stuffed with brisket, pork, and chicken. Prices are very reasonable for the quality, taste, and portion sizes. The staff is very friendly, and the owner is wonderful and helpful with suggestions. This small eatery offers benches and tables, ample parking, and standard soft drinks. It is a local diamond that guests find themselves returning to again and again.
