I'm giving Wallace's 4 stars because, while the store is excellent, their sandwiches are TERRIBLE. For a tiny sea coast town, Wallace's market is an awesome convenience. They stock most of what you'd need "in a pinch" and some nice surprises, as well. Their steaks are fantastic, vegetables are fresh, and the mushrooms are gorgeous, though expensive. Great food and friendly staff. They have everything. Great wine and beer selection, deli, meat market, ice cream, fresh produce, bbq and camping supplies, lobster rolls, burgers and pizza, etc. if you can't find it, you don't need it. All in a historic location in Friendship.

I love lobster rolls and living in Connecticut I've had my fair share. They all have been good. But the one I bought at Wallace's was the best lobster roll I've ever had. Plenty of lobster meat, incredibly fresh, on a toasted roll. Heaven. Take time to poke around this store; although small it seemingly has just about everything you would need to keep your kitchen and pantry well stocked.
