Tucked away just off the main road is the most incredible Mexican takeout I have ever had!! If you're on Route 1 (Gouldsboro area) definitely give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
really good for and amazing service!
The last time I had Mexican style food this good was when I lived in Southern California. This was our first time but definitely won’t be our last. Everything from the smiles to the smells to the taste.

Downeast Mexican Takeout is a wonderful place with amazing food and service. The food is so authentic and fresh, with generous portions and good prices. Customers enjoy walking tacos and burritos with Mexican beef, not ground beef Tex-mex, perfect with a Mexican cola. The meal is so fresh that even a baby with no teeth can enjoy the beef, rice and beans. The chimichangas and chips & salsa are delicious, and the large empanadas come with a delicious side of rice and beans. The burrito is delicious with perfect sauces. The guacamole, when available, is handmade, chunky, excellently seasoned, authentic, real, and very, very fresh. The al pastor tacos are awesome, and the fajitas can be made with any meat. The salsa is more like a thin taco sauce in teeny-tiny cups, but it tastes okay. This is a local, family owned Mexican spot in the middle of nowhere, with some tables available for dining in. It is hands down the best Mexican spot in Maine, definitely worth driving over an hour for, and a great way to break out the more commonly served cuisine. Full five stars.
