We've visited the Salt Cod Cafe on many trips to Bailey Island. Only open for breafast and lunch, we stop there every visit. Good food, and they don't even charge for the beautiful views.

Got there around 10 AM for breakfast and the selection was limited ( my fault for not getting up earlier!) Scones were delicious. Nice outside seating area to watch the boats and ocean.

Had some delicious lemon and blueberry scones that were some of the best I have had. Lovely view while eating. Had the lobster roll combo...the chowder was very good however the lobster roll was not. Barely any lobster they measure in a little Dixie cup and the roll was stale. Not what I expected for $36. Go to Morses in Harpswell instead. Would recommend the baked goods though.

Great breakfast and lunch spot. Wonderful home-cooked pies and bakery items. Historic building too! Right on the water.

We came by here three times while we spent a week in Harpswell. The lobster rolls were very good also.

Good breakfast sandwiches! Fresh made while you wait. Coffee was great! Quaint lobster shack right next to the crib bridge!

The clam chowder was excellent the lobster roll very good. The only downside is the portions were smaller than we found elsewhere and definitely not inexpensive

I've read such great reviews of this lovely spot, but my recent experience there was, in a word, dreadful. We arrived at around 12:30 on a weekday afternoon. There were about 4 staffpeople out front. I ordered a crabmeat roll, but they were out of them. I then asked for a bowl of seafood chowder, but again, they were out. No problem, I ordered 2 bowls of clam chowder. The response was "it will take awhile because we have to heat up the water." That seemed odd, but I let it pass. We were handed a buzzer and went out on the dock to await our lunch. We waited 63 minutes. I went in and checked after about 50 minutes and after being ignored for several minutes, a pleasant staffperson told me that they had gotten very backed up on chowders. I watched him putting bowls of chowder, 2 at a time, into a microwave. There seemed to be a problem with the microwave; some of the chowder heated up ok, but others had to be put back repeatedly. Among them ours. When we finally got them, there were very few clams, and the clams were honestly like rubber. I suspect they got cooked to death in the microwave. All in all, this was a really disappointing experience. It's a lovely spot and I'd like to try them again but .... Also, there was no bathroom on site, only a porta potty that even the staffpeople had to use. I really hope they are able to wash their hands in a real sink.

The clam chowder was potato chowder and bland. The sandwiches were small and expensive. Scenery good

Ordered from the menu where the prices were shown (right beside the cash register) When the cashier rang it up they over charged. I mentioned it and was told yes I know. Must have been because I wasn’t local. The sandwiches were mediocre at best. Go to BIGS (Bailey Island Grocery Store) people are way nicer and the breakfast food is better. They got me once but never again!!

Seafood chowder, good clover but didn’t have any seafood in it. Had one sliver of scallops and 6-8 flakes of fish? Had a good view.

Staying on Bailey Island, this was a gem to which to walk and grab a great cup of coffee or a delicious lunch.

We had crab rolls and fries. Good enough. The pleasure is the view from the picnic tables outside, the rocks, or pebble beach. On a foggy morning, you could be in another time.
