This one is my favorite compared to the one in Portland, Maine. Really wish there was one in Sanford, Maine near the Lows/Walmart plaza so I can stop in for lunch from time to time. I'd post a photo, but it's in my belly already. 🤭🤣

A memory died for me the other night. I stopped at Amato’s in Kennebunk and got the worst ā€œItalianā€ sub I (or anyone else) has ever had. Terrible bread, one slice of ham, a few sparse vegetables, ā€œallā€ wrapped so tight in the to go wrap that when I unwrapped it, it was skinnier than an ear of corn. I was so bummed because I had been telling my wife about ā€œthe placeā€ to get an Italian for years and we were finally able to stop by. Sadly I’ll never stop at another Amato’s.

I’ll also give a worthy piece of advice to anyone looking for a more than serviceable Italian sub for <10 bucks...Stop at any Hannaford’s on the Maine coast and grab a pre-made. Great bread, all the traditional meats that should be in there, and fresh veggies. Had both sandwiches on this trip and the one from the chain supermarket blew away ā€œthe placeā€. I’d give zero stars for food if you could post that way and I gave two for service because the kid was friendly enough.

I grew up eating Amato's Italian subs. Salt pepper oil original. The service isn't very good from the surly staff. I only get the chance once or twice a year to have a real italian, nostalgia will keep bringing me back to the crummy people who keep this figment of my childhood.

Food was really good and the cashier was super friendly. The eating area was dirty and we couldn't find a table that was clean.

Amato's catered our Christmas Eve Day lunch at work. The food arrived on time, but it was two hours old before I could get to it. We had pizza, pasta, salad, sides and appetizers. The macaroni and cheese was quite good. The pizza was good and very big and they kindly had plastic spacers in the pizza to keep it from getting accidentally crushed. All food was well-packaged. I would not get the white lasagna again as I didn't find it very tasty.

I had the best sando today. The staff is so nice and friendly! Everytime i go in, i see friendly faces, and the lines keep moving along. I ordered through toast so my food was ready when i got there and it was made custom just the way i like it! Thanks so much folks! Reasonably priced genoa italian with some bana peppers, fresh mozzarella, oil and vingear s & p! Yum

Actually pretty good for a sub shop! The Italian Chicken Salad was unique and the Steak Sub was yummy. Prices were reasonable. Didn't know it was a chain!
