Great job at the sanford high school custodial training day. The food was great especially the pork on the mac n cheese with bbq sauce was ridiculously good.
Delicious BBQ
Literally the BEST Brisket Burnt Ends I’ve ever had - hands down! Not dried out and had a great sauce, were pretty lean. The Mac & Cheese - Wow! Very nice Stoli Blueberry Lemonade. If I had a freezer with me I’d take more meat back to South Carolina. Highly recommend!! ❤️. Staff was also great.
Have been wanting to check this place out for a while now and Smoke was overall a solid experience for a New England bbq joint.
Smoke is a kind of fast casual spot. Seat yourself and order up at the desk and food is brought to you. Service was very good and friendly, checked in frequently and took good care of us. Definitely no complaints here keep it up👍🏻
For the food, my wife and I decided to share the Smokasbord to get a good taste of a lot of the menu. It states that it feeds 2-3 and it was a ton of food. We both ate a ton and easily have a full meal for one leftover or a reasonable split for us both to enjoy again. We tried the brisket, pulled pork, ribs, hot link, chili bomb, Mac and cheese, cornbread, baked beans and French fries.
The pulled pork was excellent and had great flavor. Not usually an item in the most excited for and it was my favorite meat on the board. They also have a variety of bbq sauces of which most were very good, giving lots of options to have different tasting bites if that interests you. The ribs were also great, fall off the bone tender with a great smokey flavor. I wish they had a little more seasoning/spice level but with the south of the border sauce it was about right. The hot link was a pretty good sausage with a nice spice level and I enjoyed it a lot. Unfortunately the brisket fell pretty short for me. I’m originally from Texas and brisket is always a favorite of mine. I usually have fairly low expectations for it anywhere outside of Texas but there are places where it can be decent but unfortunately it was pretty dry and unflavorful here, and didn’t have any of that moistness that makes brisket so good. It definitely needed the help of sauces. It totally could have been a bad day as it can be finicky so I’ll be sure to update if I get a better portion next time.
The sides were all good to great, and none of them being disappointing. The chili bomb was fantastic and way better than expected, nice level of spice and just awesome. The fries are like a thin shoestring but homemade and were also great, but slightly under seasoned. Mac and cheese was super creamy and dense, tasted delicious. Pasta was slightly overcooked and soft but I don’t think I’ve ever been to a bbq joint where that wasn’t the case. Beans and cornbread were both good.
Overall pretty happy with the joint and will likely return when the craving for bbq strikes again. Got my eye on trying those burnt ends next!
Great bbq. Liked the sauces too.
I love going here! They have the best BBQ around. This is my go to spot around town.
So lucky to have such an amazing BBQ place locally! Their pulled pork is incredible. Fries are the best around. OG sauce is to die for. Nearly everything is gluten free which is a huge bonus for us.
I live in the area. I love Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, but I haven't found many places in the immediate area that have truly flavorful dishes. Lots of restaurants understandably try to cater to the older, wealthier tourist crowd that is often more interested in a salt and seasoning restricted diet, and it shows in the food in so many restaurants here. Furthermore, the prices at many restaurants are incredibly expensive, so its rare that my husband and I go out. Great for the wallet but we get a little sad to have to drive 30 mins for food we like and feel is a price that makes sense.
UNTIL! I had the opportunity to help out at a charity event for Smoke, and ate dinner there and realized immediately I have been very much missing out on the absolute best place in town. I used to live in Texas where people would truly wait hours in line for smoked bbq from certain establishments, and Smoke very much holds its own with places like these.
My favorite item so far is their chili...OMG, it is called a chili bomb and that is because it's a bomb of flavor in your mouth! Just incredible, very generous portions, and we usually have leftovers with JUST chili and sides. But we also loved the tacos, the brisket, and are very excited to try the burger.
The owners are wonderful and friendly, and love to chat with their guests so please say hello to Josh if you have a chance. Just can't say enough things about this place!!
7:59 on a Saturday night, huge “open” sign still on but doors were locked and employees just gave dirty looks when we pulled on them. Thanks for getting our hopes up - maybe change the google storefront that says open til 9pm.
AMAZING!!

Awesome vib great food
Seriously so good. Got Brisket, Burnt Ends, Ribs, Mac & Cheese, and Fries. Such a great experience and I definitely recommend eating in as you get to try all of the different BBQ sauces. All of the workers were very kind and welcoming! Will 100% come back and have already recommended the place to my family members.
Solid BBQ for Southern Maine
This restaurant’s setup surprised me in a good way - you seat yourself, and go up to the counter to pay before they bring it to your table. Each table is well stocked with paper towels, metal utensils, and six bottles of sauces including ketchup. The service here is really great as well, accommodating and friendly. They’ll even let you pay for your dessert up front and save it for when you’re done with your meal. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I ended up ordering a two-meat platter, though I was able to comfortably finish it. The burnt ends, described as “the best bites in BBQ,” were the highlight, though mine were more fall-apart tender than crispy “burnt,” even without additional sauces. The pulled pork on the other hand is served without any sauce at all, so I drowned it in Carolina Gold as per the menu’s suggestion, resulting in a nice tangy flavor and texture profile. On the side were mac and cheese and cornbread, which were unfortunately both a little underwhelming - the mac was just pasta in cheese sauce, and the cornbread was dry. The biggest surprise of the day came when I ordered a whoopie pie, the most original dessert item on the menu - it was all dolled up, cut into quarters and served with whipped cream and chocolate sauce in the middle. And it was actually a good whoopie pie, too! Altogether, this spot is a warm and fun place to get my favorite type of American cuisine. Next time, I’ll have to try their fries…
First time here, and I absolutely loved everything!! Food is delicious!
