I was so excited to try this restuarant based on the many good reviews and especially so that it was for Mother's Day and it seemed just the place to celebrate a special occasion. Needless to say, based on the low rating, that was absolutely not the case. The service was not friendly, nor attentive. We did not even get a greeting from our server, just, "what would you like to drink?" I should have ordered two wines because when she brought our appetizers she pretty much ran away before I could order another and didn't return. After 15 to 20 minutes, I grabbed a busboy (who was clearly displeased that I had) to ask for water refills and to grab our server for us. It was still another five minutes before she came to the table. That, however, was not the worst part. The food was ridiculously bad. Not only lacking in quality and quantity but cooked terribly. The lobster chowder was thick and gluey and had clearly been scraped from the bottom of a stock pot that had been sitting for a long while. Other than three small pieces of lobster dropped on top of the chowder, it had zero lobster flavor. The filet was medium well on one side, medium rare on the other and super tough. The halibut was overcooked, barely room temperature and came with little to none of the promised mushroom sauce. The asparagus was complete mush and entirely inedible and the au poivre sauce had fresh peppercorns that had not been sauteed long enough and burnt the hell out of my daughter's mouth. To add insult to injury, my chair was uneven, shifting up and down to the left or right every time I shifted my weight to cross my legs or readjust, which I had to do frequently as the chairs are pretty hard. So, I also had a sore arse after the way too lengthy process of dining here. It was sincerely one of the worst dining experiences ever and I dine out frequently. It is almost laughable - how much was off or wrong - but having to pay the check for 280.00 for a party of four with only two glasses of wine and terrible food, any laughter dried right up (just like my halibut). What an incredible disappointment for what was to be a special day.

Hurricane has delicious food and excellent service. Some of the tables feel a little cramped, but that's because those are the water views, and folks are willing to squeeze a little for that

Baked stuffed lobster, the stuffing had no flavor. The Maine traditional seafood stuffing was traditionally prepared with sweet sherry liquor, instead they used All Spice and lemon. The 2lb. lobster had plenty of meat but the roasted flavor was missing in the tail meat. An excellent dish presentation with no flavor. People from away are probably dazzled by the size and presentation of the lobster. Native Mainers know the difference. One and a half pound lobsters tend to have more flavor.

Just always delicious. The orzo that came with the chicken was phenomenal!!!!! Short rib was tender and delicious! When in Kennebunkport, I never skip at least 1 dinner at Hurricane.

Visiting from SC and had the opportunity to dine on opening night. Everything was superb! Garlic shrimp fettuccine, pan-seared salmon and blueberry cobbler. All cooked to perfection!

First time at this establishment. Wait staff was extremely friendly. Food portions were very good, food was delicious. Prices were as expected for the location. Would definitely dine there again if in the area.

We've been going to the Hurricane since it was in Perkins Cove and have always enjoyed it. The food, atmosphere and service is great. But I must say that I was taken aback by the prices last night.

My entree came out cold/room temperature. I asked the waiter to have it heated up. It took forever for him to return with my warmed up food. When he returned the potatoes and vegetables were 75% less than the original plate of food. I mentioned this to him and he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. The meat was about 50% less after it was warmed up as well. So while the food was good it the portion size was greatly reduced after it was warmed up. The server was not good at all. I do not want him as a server ever again. He needs more training.

We spent our 1st lovely evening out for date night this spring. This was our 1st time dining at the restaurant. The food and ambiance were perfect. The new wine was so smooth, but the Best was the impeccable service. Michelle was our waitress and she was Incredible! Michelle is definitely the #1 reason we will be back soon!!! Thank you

Hubby & I went here for dinner one evening while we were visiting during the 2nd week of Prelude. We were excited to have a nice dinner. Seated right away at the back of the restaurant next to the waiters/waitress station. Speaker right above the table was blaring Christmas music. It was weird being so close to the station because they were literally chopping bread about 6 inches behind my back.I ordered the salmon dish. The carrot purée really killed the dish. The salmon really looked undercooked and very under seasoned. Nothing special about it. Hubby had stuffed lobster. Was good but again nothing special. Ended up sharing his dish. Once we told the waitress our concerns with the salmon, she couldn’t get us out fast enough. The place was packed. So many people jammed into a small restaurant. Wish we would have not wasted our money here. The food just isn’t very good.
