Despite no booking they kindly accommodated us, possibly explaining why two entrees already sold out. Two of us ordered duck on risotto. The risotto was barely warm and undercooked. The whole dish was barely warm. The sauce had this weird unpleasant smell. I've never sent back food before but I was close. I ate the duck and the greens, it wasnt great, the rest was inedible. Staff didn't seem to care much.

Last stop before heading home and it did not disappoint. Our server, Alex, was so helpful and attentive. Food was amazing and loved the atmosphere. Never felt rushed.
Parking: They do offer free valet parking on Friday and Saturday nights.

We had a delicious dinner at Anneke Jans to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We started with two cocktails and a mixed green salad. I had the chicken, and my husband had the steak for dinner with a glass of wine. For dessert, we split the bread pudding. Everything was delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambience was perfect. I highly recommend it!

Definitely One Of The Very Best Restaurants On The Seacoast...
I have been to Anneke Jans two times. Once back in April, and again on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Both dining experiences were to celebrate birthdays of someone near and dear to me.
The ambience here is intimate, cozy with a warm personal feel.
Like any successful business, it all flows down from the top. The owners, Jason & Megan Canty truly valued us from the moment we walked through their door. Their staff are courteous, hard working and couldn't do enough to ensure we had everything we needed both times we have eaten there.
The first time eating at Anneke Jans back in April, I had the swordfish special and it was out of this world! Like I mentioned, it was a very special friends birthday. We had spent time skiing in Europe together years earlier. A wonderful memory from that trip, was drinking Grappa in Italy after an epic day on the slopes. When we were presented the Anneke Jans dessert menu, I saw they had Alexander Grappa, which made our particular evening even more special, and memorable.
I can't say enough about how delicious the food is, and how much care they put into every aspect of your dining experience. I really wish I had some photos to share on this review, but somethings are best experience. Anneke Jans is one of those things!!!
Bon Appétit

One of THE BEST restaurants in New England! Staff is friendly and welcoming; ambiance is cozy, warm, and intimate; the food is innovative and AMAZING. and drinks are some of the best! We don't live nearby and have only been here a handful of times over a couple of years, but we love this place and visit any time we're in the area.
We hadn't been to Anneke Jans in a number of years, but we'll put this restaurant back in our rotation! Loved the fried olives, moules frites, and the caramel bread pudding, the pre-dinner cocktail delicious and the wine selection is quite good.

Anneka Jans is consistently delicious with a great staff and wonderful chefs. We've been dining there for years and never once had a meal that wasn't incredible. A gem of a restaurant in Wallingford Square!
Great service, convenient valet parking for Fri & Sat. VERY dark inside, even at 6pm. Hard to see/read the menu. No prices on the cocktail menu, $12 for a can of grocery store beer (Orono Tubular). $38 for THREE scallops and some corn. The risotto with the salmon tasted like tomato paste. The mussels were outstanding but the shells were barely open on most. I would go again for the mussels and the bread, but couldn't justify the high prices of the drinks or entrees.
Want to start out by saying the service was fantastic, our drinks were good, after that it went downhill a bit. We started with the fried oysters and the bolognese. The oysters were okay, a few of them were extremely gritty but it happens, the aioli that came with it was excellent. The bolognese was completely flavorless. I've had better for half the price at other places in the area, and with the hype surrounding it we were pretty disappointed. Next we both got the New York strip, it was my girlfriend's birthday so she got it with the lobster tail, which was clearly just half a lobster tail at $24. The steaks themselves were fantastic, and I could drink a cup of that bordelaise sauce it was so good. However the potato and cauliflower gratin was completely undercooked for both of us, I had to use my knife to cut through the potato. We returned it, it was brought back to us undercooked again at which point we let our server know we would just have the steak and asparagus and call it a day. The manager did end up comping a round of drinks, but for the hype surrounding the place and the price we paid for dinner, we were extremely disappointed.
Wonderful experience! From our greeting as we walked in, to our service and finally the food, so delicious. This is the first meal I've had in the seacoast area in a while that did not disappoint. Can't wait to go back.
After many visits over the years this was the first time we were disappointed. Service was outstanding as is AJs vibe., Comfortable yet classy. But the food fell short for the first time. Our go to must have fried olives were not up to par, our main courses were fine, but the food has always been far better than fine. But who doesn't have an off night, especially on a Saturday night in high volume season. Having grown up in the restaurant industry I know not to judge a restaurant on a single night after many wonderful visits. And we won't.
