Only about a mile from the Bates campus, this spot is tucked in behind some other businesses. Luckily, some locals gave me a tip to stop by and I did. Completely unpretentious but absolutely perfect, this spot captured the essence of Maine. It’s a pub that is popular with locals, creating an authentic pub experience but the food is decidedly upscale while still consistent with the atmosphere. You can see how hard every single person was working to make sure that we had the best experience possible…from lobster rolls to simple salads, everything was perfectly executed and delicious. Can’t praise them enough for capturing the essence of Maine. Unpretentious, hard working, traditional Maine style without pretending to be anything else. Absolutely love this spot and it’s clear that there are a crowd of locals who have formed a loyal following. Use GPS and find your way to this hidden gem that captures the essence of Maine whether you’re a local or just visiting. It’s a must do for every trip to Maine!

The staff does everything to remember your first name think of being a norm on cheers, that’s how they want to greet you, drink your usual waiting for you. The boss is so amazing. The kitchen has food that is top notch. Folks when in town and you decide not to visit, you’re missing a great experience. Join the mug club for added benefits.

The food specials are suspiciously good—like, “how-is-this-not-a-front-for-something” good. And the drinks? Let’s just say they’ll make you forget why you came in, and you’ll leave convinced it was your idea to stay.
If you’re not entertained at Melissa’s, it’s probably you.

I heard that they had really really good hot wings when I got them they were really good Mild ones. I'll go back and ask that they make them as hot as they can. It is a good place to go!!!

The food was delicious with super large portions. Reasonable prices, very clean inside and service was GREAT!! First time there but will definitely be back!!!

I had scallops basket, husband had shrimp basket. Both seafood items were lightly beer battered and fried. Very yummy! After a redo on the fries, they were great. Waitress was nice and very friendly.
