I ordered to our Brunswick location tonight at 5:30, had some errands to do, got there 20 minutes after they said it would be ready, it wasn’t, the poor young men making sandwiches and doing oven work never came to the counter, the older gentleman finally came over and said he was waiting on our one hot sandwich, which they never started until I said I was there, 20 minutes later they realized the hot sandwich was done, wrapped it and put it next to our cold sandwich order, 10 minutes later I mentioned I thought my order may be complete, they handed it to me and walked away, no sorry, no have a good night. Got home and both dagwoods, they were half wrapped with barely any thing in them. One boy had very long hair dangling in his eyes, (really hope there’s no hair in our food, ) not a good experience, and I’ve lived here my entire life and have used them a lot, not again for a very long time 😡

My expensive "chef salad" didn't even have half a piece of cheese nor half a slice of ham and turkey. An absolute ripoff!

don't get me wrong they have amazing food at the augusta location but the woman who was managing the place (melissa) is absolutely absurd. the amount of attitude not only I received but also an employee working was absolutely ridiculous. She berated this poor girl in front of customers and I'm honestly surprised you're able to keep any employees at that location just based on the 10 minute interaction I saw today. and this wasn't the first time. I'd say a new manager needs to happen.

I grew up in Lewiston, but since 2019, I’ve had to live away from Maine—thanks to rising rents and an economy that’s made it harder and harder to stay. That said, my family is still here, and whenever I’m back in town, there are certain traditions I refuse to skip. Stopping at Sam’s Italian on Lisbon Street is one of them.

This location holds extra significance for me—not just because I’ve been coming here for as long as I can remember, but because my nephew works here now. It’s a full-circle moment, seeing the place that’s been a staple of my childhood and beyond now be a part of his life too.

And the food? It’s exactly as I remember it, which is to say, it puts even Amato’s to shame. I always make time for a turkey Italian, a ten-inch bacon pizza, and at least one whoopie pie—a trifecta of Maine comfort food that never disappoints. And because I know I’ll be craving it as soon as I’m back in Vermont, I usually grab a few Italian rolls and a bottle of their oil to bring with me. There’s something about having that taste of home among the mountains that makes being away just a little bit easier.

Sam’s is one of those places that feels like a constant in a town that’s changed a lot over the years. Whether you grew up here or are just passing through, it’s worth a stop—especially at the Lisbon Street location.

So, great people but darn the prices crazy. Blt was ok. My fault i didn't know it was not a sub. Taste like fake bacon. Also got chicken salad wrap. That wrap was claimed to be delicious. Hence the three stars. Great service.

My husband and I just had lunch at the Sam’s Italian Restaurant in Augusta, Maine. The cranberry almond chicken salad sandwich was excellent, and I had to save half of it for later because it was so huge. My husband had the chicken parmigiana sandwich and he said it was the best he ever had. Kind, friendly employees. The place was nice and clean. Glad we found this restaurant. We will definitely be back soon.

It's my favorite place in Maine. Their Ham Italian Subs are amazing. I have to have at least 2 during my week vacation.

I was waited on by a young man named Joseph. Very polite and well mannered. Made my sub with style and even asked if I wanted it cut in half. 10/10 would recommend

that has to be the WORST italian I've ever had. only one slice layer of meat! this is the third time I've ordered from them, just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. they consistently under prepare their sandwiches. and 15$?!?! I wouldn't waste money on their food if I were you. the raccoon in my backyard can make a better sandwich out of dumpster scraps.
