We feel beyond lucky to have been able to work with Courtney and the Shovel & Spoon team for a welcome event hosted the night before our wedding. I know this particular year they had stepped back from catering a bit while they were focused on other projects but it meant the world to us that they were able to do this event. Furthermore, I cannot adequately explain how amazing the food was! All night long people were coming up to us saying how delicious everything was, and our vegetarian friends were absolutely floored by the extensive spread of fresh dips and veggies that suited their dietary needs – it was all phenomenal. They also provided ice cream from Dear Dairy which was insanely flavorful, it really capped the night off. In sum, if you have the chance to work with Shovel & Spoon for an event or attend one of their farm dinners – don’t hesitate to do so. Shovel and Spoon made our wedding unique not just for us, but for our guests. So many people complimented that this was not just one of the best wedding meals that they had experienced, but one of the best meals they’d had. Our goal was to bring our friends and family together around great food and drinks that showcased Maine and its uniqueness, and Tomer, Courntey and Hazel delivered. We loved working with them from start to finish. Hazel put together an awesome bar experience for our guests that included craft beer that he custom ordered for us. And then the food! The tasting was amazing, and would have been a fun standalone experience outside of the fact that we were planning a wedding. Then in crunchtime and on the day of, we didn’t have to worry about a thing–the food was great and we felt like we were working with a team of our friends. The team catered our 200-person wedding earlier this summer and I'm still getting texts from folks reminiscing about how amazing everything was, from cocktail hour to late-night empanadas :)I'm so grateful we had their team around to keep people happily fed on our big day. And I'm DOUBLY grateful that I can head to the local co-op and enjoy their labneh, hummus, and tahini dip on the daily (it's a staple in my fridge).
Courtney & Tomer are so unbelievably talented - their attention to detail and creativity in their dishes is unlike anything I have seen in a catering business. I've been in the event industry for over 10 years now and they are by far the best I've found to date. Our wedding had 137 guests and we still have guests texting and emailing us asking about them and their dishes. They grow all of the vegetables on their farm and source everything locally and it truly shows. They are the sweetest couple too - welcoming us into their home for a private tasting. Their staff is also wonderful - as a bride and groom, you often are pulled into a million different directions but their staff made sure we had plates of food at all times. Every appetizer was incredible, every entree melted in your mouth - just so wonderful. This is not your typical wedding food - they are a high end culinary experience. The presentation of their food is also incredible. I could not recommend them enough and hope to work with them again in the future. It is wonderful to see great people doing great things here in Maine. Do yourself a favor and hire them for your next event. You will not regret it!

Courtney and Tomer are real professionals. We had the most amazing tasting for our wedding food, well in advanced of our big day, and it was impossible to narrow down the choices and choose. Everything they prepared for us was beyond yummy! We were blown away. My mother, who can be hard to please, was also blown away! On top of that, we did not know they could replicate what they had prepared for us in an intimate tasting for over one hundred people and keep the quality of the food and cooking so high....but they exceeded our expectations!All of our guests were raving about the food. The service was fantastic, and no belly was hungry, all plates were emptied. Even though we had several people with dietary restrictions they were able to easily (or at least it seemed to me, the bride) accommodate and serve everyone extremely delicious food.I can sing their praises for days, and would recommend them to anyone needing a caterer. Their farm to table food to fantastic. And they are a joy to work with. 10 Stars (if possible)!

In advance of our event, I was thoroughly impressed with how professional they were -- responsive, helpful, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and clear. They were flexible as we created plans A, B, C, and so on, as COVID made us rethink everything several times. I always felt like we were in good hands. Even more impressive, though, was their performance on the big day. The food was OUTSTANDING. Simply fabulous. Fresh, creative, perfectly seasoned, and abundant. People who thought they didn't like ceviche asked for seconds. And thirds. I had never heard of skordalia when they proposed swapping it for something else on the menu due to lack of availability. All I can say is ASK THEM TO MAKE YOU SKORDALIA! (I promise you won't regret it.) Beyond the food, the service was FANTASTIC. The serving staff helped me decorate the tables and made helpful suggestions that made everything look even better. After one guest declined a particular appetizer and happened to mention that they were allergic to dairy, five minutes later, the server came back with an entire plate of non-dairy options for them. I hadn't planned for this - they just did it. Things ran smoothly and at the end of the night, everything was cleaned up, leftovers were packed, and our house was spotless. I would not hesitate to hire Shovel and Spoon again.
