This place is an oasis in the Wilds of Down East, especially on Sunday when it seems there is no decent places to eat open beyond Ellsworth! On our way to West Quoddy we needed food and Google found the Public House. At first I thought it was a mistake because it showed the location literally out in the middle of nowhere but we found it and were very pleased. The location is beautiful, surrounded by woods, farmland and water and the building is also attractive. We were seated promptly and were surprised to see so many people there. The service and food were excellent. We had the panko haddock, steamed mussels and chowder. The mashed potatoes were chunky and the carrots very fresh. The haddock and mussels were flavorful. The prices were certainly reasonable. If they were located in Camden or Bar Harbor they could charge much more and it would still be worth it! We were sorry to leave but we had to get back on the road. I was amazed that such a restaurant was there well off the highway and not near any large cities, yet people were arriving continuously. I understand why!

Very grateful to have dined here while passing through.
The menu is very gluten free friendly. The crab dip was excellent with the perfect amount of chips. The oyster mignionette was delicious. The waitress was attentive and helpful. We had the chicken fingers and the fish and chips, both wonderful. Definitely will be back if I'm ever nearby again, even worth a special trip.

Stopped in for lunch and couldn't believe the find! Food was off the charts, staff was so friendly (Olivia!), cocktails excellent. 5+ stars. Going back for dinner and music next time and already can’t wait. Don’t miss this gem, you won’t be disappointed!

First time visiting the Public House. Venu is beautiful but I have to say not very easy to access if you have a disability. Only wheelchair ramp is on the pub side and you still have a lot of stairs to access. So if you have a hard time walking it is not ideal to access. Dirt path and stone path were both very hard to walk on with canes or walker. Never would be able to use a wheelchair. As they are pretty new I hope they are just working on a solution. Food was really tasty but all our meals were undercooked. I'll say they were extremely busy and they did make it right for us. Staff was amazing and very friendly. I would definitely give this another try when I return to the area.

I would give 6 stars for Service if I could. Excellent. My Ceasar salad was very good and the small size with grilled salmon was plenty fir me for lunch. I asked for the salmon to be very rare but it came out medium, but it was fresh and well prepared otherwise. The desert menu looked great but we passed on desert. There were a good number of draft craft beers. The fish and chips has a good reputation and looked good to me.

Came here for dinner last night and had to come back today for lunch. Food quality is off the charts good and service excellent and friendly. Swordfish for dinner last night really very good. Bang bang shrimp and crab dip for lunch were to die for. The coconut cloud cake my wife had was amazing. Must visit if you are in the area
