I do a fair amount of traveling and Helen’s is now on my top 5 list of places, no questions. Good variety on the menu along with good dessert options (save room, it’s worth it). The staff was extremely friendly and made you feel comfortable, the restaurant itself was very well kept and clean which to me says a lot. Next time I am in the area I will be making my way there again. I highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.
Staff is extremely accommodating and courteous. Food is out of this world. Seafood is all FRESH, never frozen.

Absolutely love Helen’s. I have eaten there since 2010, every time I am in Machias. All the seafood is fresh and delicious and over the years I have tried it all. This year was special as I celebrated my birthday there. Thanks Julie and David for making it “extra” special.

Was seated right away, the staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered a substitution, and it was all perfect.

Disappointed one pie $36.50 and large chowder $11.99 and mediocre at best. Pie was good but not worth the price.

We have eaten here twice within the past month (most recently this past Friday night) and this is definitely now one of our favorite restaurants! The food and service are absolutely phenomenal. Their menu is very expansive and their prices are quite reasonable. Both times we've been here, we've sat at the bar and our bartenders were on their A game! Our drinks were never left empty and our appetizers and entrees came out extremely quickly. If you get an appetizer, I highly recommend the wings! They are out of this world. This is our go-to spot whenever we are vacationing in the Machias area!

We stopped here for lunch on our fall foliage / lighthouse tour. Needless to say the reviews were misleading. I has a cup of the chowder, which came out cold. The goat cheese salad was “fine,” but the Mac and cheese was also cold. My husband had a chicken sandwich, which was fried in the same oil as the fish. Apple pie was blah and mushy.
Our server was too busy to bother with us and we felt like an inconvenience.
We tried something local and just didn’t enjoy the experience.

For the most part certain dishes are good. Today I had the pot roast which is very good. Meat was tender and I got a baked potato and broccoli with it. One of my favorites was the meatloaf but the last time I had it, maybe it was an off day, it was overcooked and dry. And another time I had the chicken dinner which was very good. But apparently it's only offered as a special on Thursdays. So I'm not a picky person but I only like less than a handful of their dishes. But desert is always good.

Service was great, food was great and came out on time. Our waitress Jean was the best we had during our trip to Maine, attentive and good at her job, she was a sweetheart and well worthy of the praise. Made the whole experience better.

Helen's was a wonderful surprise in the middle of Maine, just off the beaten path from Lubec or Campobello. We got a recommendation to come here and we're not disappointed. The food was mouth-watering, fresh & delicious. The pies were to die for...and the atmosphere was cozy and quaint. I even bought a sweater to remember them by!
