We are Newcastle residents who have been away for a few years. Decided to give an old favorite a visit: How disappointing. Husband ordered burger which was fine (but not $19 worth even in this economy). My Chicken Piccata was not so good - tasteless and super dry chicken. But when we got the check and saw a “Kitchen Surcharge” of $2.07, I called the waitress over and inquired what it was. “Oh, an extra tip for the kitchen” was the reply. Needless to say, we won’t be back. Over $40 per person for 2 drinks, a burger, and tasteless Chicken Piccata is just not the stuff that would get us back anytime soon. There are far better options in town. What a shame as we love to support local places, but we won’t be back anytime soon:

I was told they got rid of their Mac and cheese off their menu!! Why?! It was the best I've ever had... that's not okay, it's Mac and cheese, everyone loves it

It didn’t start well. We had a reservation. When it was our turn, the hostess took a long phone call rather than telling the caller to wait. The NPH has been a reliable place for a pretty good meal. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case the last time I ate here. I couldn’t finish it because the burger I ordered because it didn’t taste right. Although I requested medium, it was very dry, almost crumbly. My dinner mates had the fried haddock. Each portion was small and the fried haddock was greasy. The service was a bit slow but efficient, although not particularly friendly. We ate inside. I wouldn’t recommend this place on a hot day. The air conditioning was not good.

Delicious! My husband and I stumbled across this gem of a restaurant along our travels. We were able to be seated right away. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We started with the wings and they were fabulous- fell right off the bone. We both had salad options- mine with blackened haddock and my husband had the steak salad. Great dressings! Highly recommend!

Great beers and cider on tap. My backyard burger was and my wife’s blackened haddock sandwich was one of the best I’ve had. We will absolutely return.
Variety of food and drinks, good atmosphere, but the staff needs some work in professionalism.

Staff were very friendly and seated me right away. I had the shishito peppers appetizer and the vegan meatloaf for my entree and i was thoroughly satisfied. Quite possibly the best meal I have had since going vegan a year ago this month.

Can’t rate this on food or atmosphere since we never ate there… but the attitude at the hostess stand was awful. We didn’t have a reservation(Wednesday night) as we aren’t from the area and just staying in Bath for the week. This place landed on my radar. According to the website they have a pub and an upstairs area so I kind of figured we might be ok not having a rez(we actually prefer bar seating), but we weren’t and that’s ok too. But when I told the woman when we walked in she chuckled and almost eye rolled(very condescending) and said I’d have to talk to another girl. What? The attitude was unnecessary. I inquired about the upstairs I read about in the website and was told it wasn’t open for a few weeks. Ok. Maybe don’t put that on the website if it isn’t open. Was wondering if the bar seating was part of the wait but never asked since I was practically shunned for not having a reservation.
