“We go to NPH quite a bit. The food is always consistent. The Angry Al's oysters are wonderful. The Rueben sandwich, always up to par. This time I swayed from my usual Rueben, and had the pub burger, which was great. The disappointment this visit was our waitress. It felt like she was in a hurry to get rid of us. This came to light when I was going to ask for the dessert menu, and she plopped down the check without any eye contact, and rushed off. The hostess actually took care of the check. It wasn't close to closing time, or anything. I hope her day got better.”
“Easy 5 stars. They do an awesome job. Rooting pig is a home run every time. Store/ Market offerings always on point. Very unique vibe as well. Not going to find anything quite like it in close proximity. Staff is professional and knowledgeable. Owners/ their entire family are great! Couldn’t recommend more whether if you are visiting, summer, or local.”
“Absolutely the best paczkis!! We picked up 8 assorted on Friday. Mark and his family do an outstanding job in making these polish dougnuts as authentic as the ones I grew up on.”
“Dined here last night for the first time on Valentine’s Day. Even though they were incredibly busy they went above and beyond to make sure we left incredibly happy and wanting to return. Beautiful atmosphere, great food and drinks, lovely service.”
“Just found this place. A friend recommended their bagels. Here’s the thing: bagels are popular, as well they should be. They were sold out a couple of mornings ago, so I settled for an egg, sausage, and cheese breakfast sandwich. It was delicious. I drooled over lots of other stuff but resisted temptation. Plenty of time to sample the goods. Atmosphere is nice, too. Friendly, bustling. I am looking forward to many happy returns.”
“When Red's has a line down the street (which is 90% of the time), going to Sprague's is a no brainer. Their food is incredibly reasonably priced and offers exactly what you would expect. The lobster dinner is truly a great price for what you get! I love sitting out on the deck and watching the seagulls on the water. The area also includes a very sweet little stand in which you can buy jams and other canned goods, as well as a small little building with some information on the history of the area. The staff is friendly and personable, and truly makes the atmosphere comfortable and authentically "Maine". It is truly family business -- the type that I love to support. Just know that it is cash/check only and there is an ATM on site.”
“Ann's Book Bistro is a cozy, inviting place for a meal. The food is consistently excellent and creative, and the staff makes the experience extraordinary. When the weather is warm, the patio outside is wonderful.”
“Wonderful place to grab late breakfast/brunch in Boothbay Maine with friends! The abundance of food was incredible! We thought we were eating Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch altogether! We couldn't decide if the Pancakes and bacon was the best or the large sandwiches and fries were the best!”
“I had the garlic sauce Chicken and must say that the vegetables were perfectly cooked. They had a crunch to them that just hit the spotThe fresh spring rolls and their home made peanut sauce was delightful. I'm so glad we stumbled on this place during our roadtrip.”
“This is such a welcoming place. It couldn't be any cuter. A country candy store/deli/ coffee shop. It is a win win for almost anyone! The sandwiches are delicious and very reasonably priced. Staff are friendly, offering great service. I will definitely go again!♡”
“We took our son and daughter in law for his birthday. The setting was beautiful and the service great. Our appetizers and entrees were quick and delicious. We hope to go back again when in the area.”
“The nicest people in town serving some of the best food in Maine. It's the first place I recommend to out-of-towners and locals alike. Not only is the wine excellent, the salads, oysters, and desserts stand out in particularly in my mind as some of the best I've had.”
“I accidentally left my purse behind at the Bred in the Bone brunch restaurant. Accommodating doesn’t even begin to describe the kindness they showed me. They secured my belongings safely and hand delivered them to me all the way from Damariscotta to Freeport ME. They were quick to communicate and empathize with me on such a stressful day. I thought for sure my purse would have been stolen but they were on top of their game and the staff saved me so much financial heart ache with their efforts. Bonus points to owner Beth & Employee Roz who saved the day!Not to mention, I had a fabulous cappuccino @ Bred in the Bone.”
“I'm not a local, I'm just a summah person! But this place is about as local as it gets!A little gem of localness tucked away on the Bristol Rd.Stop in grab a bite you won't be disappointed!”
“Round top is by far the best ice cream you will ever eat. They have so many great flavors that it is hard to pick a favorite. It is creamy but not heavy and just delicious. Try it and you will fall in love for sure.”
“Coffee shop attached to a wonderful bookstore. This is a must visit if you are in the area. Great selection of coffee, tea, baked goodies, and egg sandwiches. Can be crowded on busy weekends, but they move it along, pretty quickly. Never had trouble finding a place to seat. They also have outside seating!”
“Very friendly staff . Cute place by water. Happened to stumble on this place driving through and were so glad we stopped. The truckers knot with roastbeef was the best ? I've ever had. The flavor was out of this world. The coleslaw The fresh roast beef and the sauce they put on it. We would come back just for that. Must try this place out .”
“The wait was an hour. But it was well WORTH the time. They don’t measure or weigh the lobster. They just load it up. I had leftovers. I have a healthy appetite but I couldn’t finish it all. I opted to not even eat the majority of the roll. It was tasty with the awesome warm butter that is served with it. This was my first visit but not my last. Awesome hard working folks.”
“Picked up a pizza here a few months ago and I thought it was very good. Nice balance of cheese, sauce, and toppings. We live in Brunswick so it's a bit of a drive but I'll go back again when they open up for spring.”
“Actually the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Can’t go wrong with a paesano panin.A little bit pricey, so keep that in mind. That being said, if you have a couple bucks to spend, it’s 100% worth it.”
“We sampled appetizers, entrees, non-alcoholic cocktails and desserts. All of the dishes were creative but not wacky. Extremely fresh and flavourful. And balanced! The mocktails were convincing and delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and a little rustic but classy as well. A hard balance to strike. Our waitress was charming and genuine. I will definitely be back. It's worth a drive.”
“First time going to the chubby hole. It’s a small joint mostly locals inside. Small bar and menu. Food was good. Burger, pastrami sandwich and grilled sausage special. It’s worth a stop, not far from route one.”
“The ice cream hut and mini golf are awesome! I've been going here for 20+ years and they always impress! The Strawberry Bash is the absolute best, highly recommend!”
“This region is so fortunate to have such an amazing take out option. In terms of service, quality and price, this place has no local equal. They are open 5 days a week, and offer a (mostly) regular, rotating menu that cycles through differing themes: Mexican, Pizza, Burgers, etc. Unlike most places that try to do too much and can't deliver consistent quality, VIP keeps their rotating nightly menu small enough that every single offering is of the highest quality and has a distinctly unique twist. I have now tried the burgers, pizza, tacos and enchiladas - all phenomenal. They have a lot of seafood options, which I don't eat, but others I know have raved about it. Portions are on the smaller side (as is the price), but satisfying and filling. For example, the burger bun is the size of the actual burger it contains, so you don't get loaded down with extra carbs, like most places. And the meals always come with an excellent side, such as homemade mac & cheese, or (amazing) beans and rice.I've been visiting this region for over 40 years, and often lamented at the lack of good, affordable food. VIP is the solution I never expected, but I am so grateful they opened. Their format is to offer early pre-ordering on Facebook each day, to ensure they don't run out of your preferred meal, but they can also accommodate on-the-spot orders (not the recommended method, as they are very popular, and stuff does run out). This format is an added bonus during the COVID crisis, where social distancing is still highly advised. I would eat here every day, if cost and calories were not a consideration. There are plenty of food pics on their Facebook page. They can be found one property past Dee's Variety (going South), just at the turn onto Huddle Road, on Rt 130 (Bristol Road).facebook.com/visitvip”
“Creative pizza offerings, 3-4 choices of different "slices" that are huge if in a hurry, or not, or get a whole pie. Could be warmer. Small plates: greenbeans delicious, cauliflower roasted tasty.A few wine choices, lots of beer styles, nicely priced.Best deep dish around!”
“This beers some wicked good!! Can't beat great local made beer shared with friends. Steve has been a brewer for many years and once you taste his brews you'll know why hes a state wide favourite. More beer dear!”
“The service was amazing. The people were so nice. Dining out with a toddler can be challenging and the staff were well prepared with friendly faces and coloring books. The food was great. My husband was especially happy with his rib eye and I didn't try it but heard the fried clams were delicious. I would definitely go back.”
“Quaint outdoor experience for really good lunch fare. Very pleasant staff. We had Haddock chowder, fries, zucchini fries, lobster roll, fish sandwich, coleslaw, chili-cheese dog and shakes. All was yummy. Better lobster roll than we had in Portland!”
“Second time in but first time in a while. Everything was just as good as the first time. Oysters were perfect especially at 1/2 price. Burratta was tasty and beautiful. LOVED the maple duck wings that we tried at the recommendation of our server. Our server was so sweet and helpful. Made friends at the table next to us. King Eider’s is the kind of place you go back to often!”
“This is a fun brewery to hang out at. They always have have an exciting variety beers so a flight is recommended! Nice place to sit and relax outside on a nice afternoon, fairly family friendly also if you’re bringing kids along. The people working there are always friendly.”
