The Fat Friar's Meadery

I am not much of a mead fan but this meadery is worth a visit! The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable about the craft. The tasting for 8 separate meads is only $5 which is an awesome way to try a whole bunch of different styles of mead for low cost. The tasting room is in the lower level of a home which was confusing at first but very cute once you get inside. Highly recommended giving it a try!

Saw this place while driving through Newcastle hunting for breweries and immediately made a U-turn. What first looks like a nice house in an off-road is hiding a beautiful little relaxing gardens and tasting room. Meet Sean Bailey who was So knowledgeable and attentive, offered paired tasting of the meads, although my pregnant wife couldn't have any, we ended up leaving with 3 bottles, so she can finally have some for the holidays and today is it. Can't wait to come...

Lovely experience!! Sean was a wonderful host and very willing to share his knowledge of mead with us. We loved every drink we tasted as well as the experience! Definitely worth the drive through a bit of dirt road (as well as our adventure into the basement tasting room - lol!).
