Our first time dining at Kanu...and we'd go back! The entire staff at Kanu was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We were brought a second serving of house-made chips fried in tallow upon request. Our entrees were cooked to order and served in a timely fashion and at the right temperature. The bartender made a recommendation for a substitution on a particular drink for one of our party. Wish it were closer to home, but we'll visit anytime we attend an event at UMaine.
Fantastic Night out Great Food, Friendly Atmosphere by all the staff, just a very Pleasant evening away from home.
Kanu is a must-visit! The atmosphere here is absolutely lovely, making it a perfect spot for any occasion. The food is top-notch—fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Highly recommended!
Went to celebrate my Birthday and unfortunately it was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. I ordered the salmon and the fish was so charred the burnt flavor permeated the entire dish even after peeling the burnt layer off. The smell from the burnt char was so over powering it made it difficult to eat. It was paired with fingerling potatoes and asparagus which were the most bland sides I’ve ever had. If I wanted unseasoned boiled potatoes I would have made my own at home. This should have never even been served to me period. We did not have reservations on a weekday. We were told we could sit at the bar otherwise there weren’t any tables available. By the time we ate and left none of the tables were ever filled. I would say 65% of the restaurant was empty the entire time we were there. This was a very expensive meal I wouldn’t even label as mediocre but rather downright inedible.

Hands down the worst food I have had in this area. I feel like I was genuinely robbed of $80+. Very, very disappointing in every way
