Been going to Maine for years but we only discovered the Clam Hunter 3 years ago. They have the best hard shell clams and steamers of anyone Down East. Don't make our mistake...go there now!
Service: 5
the BEST clams i’ve ever had! HUGE oysters, we did them on the campfire, it was absolutely delicious! we went back the next day, cannot recommend enough
Best clams and oysters we’ve ever had
Best and nicest folks. They supply clams and oysters for my partner’s business. Never a bad review!
Terry has the biggest smile and the best clams and oysters. They come with a touch of local history and an awesome conversation! This guy is a legend in my book!
I only eat clams from this place- the only problem is, once you have their clams- no other clams will ever be good enough.
Superior shellfish, direct and local, fabulous owners and service, but be aware CASH only,
I’ve lived in Maine for 59 years and have eaten a lot of Maine raised steamers. Hands down, these folks have the best, consistently, to be bought anywhere! I highly recommend them. The purging and the size separation put them over the top. Reasonably priced too!
Visit the area a few times every year. They have the cleanest, sand free steamers.
Absolutely fantastic oysters! If you aren’t getting your oysters or clams from here then you are missing out.

The clam hunter is by far the best oysters. Steamers were great good times made a good friend of mine eat 120 oysters 10 pounds of steamers farted up a storm, but it was good good times won’t be disappointed!!!!!!!!! Friendly as well, down Maine
This place was an absolute find on our recent Phippsburg vacation. Friendly person, shared lots of info about their products and the history of the business. The clams were honestly the best I have ever had; steamed for just a couple of minutes in beer ( I donated a can of 'The Thirsty Botanist' from Boothbay Brewing to the cause, another great find! ) sweet, soft and entirely grit free. Just amazing. My only regret was I only ordered a pound between us; dont be a cheapskate like me, order a pound per person, you wont regret it. And the prices are very reasonable. Also got a half dozen oysters which did not disappoint either. We will be back.
The folks at the Clam Hunter are kind, pleasant, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about not only their products, but about the area as well.I've been coming to this part of the world my whole life and have *never* had a bad experience with The Clam Hunter, plus their claim of the cleanest clams around is absolutely true. I don't know what kind of mollusk magic is happening here, but I am glad to be its beneficiary.
******BEST CLAMS EVER*********World famous grit free clams is what the white board on the door says, and I was curious if theyd actually be sand free. I had 30 clams, and there was not a single spec of sand! Clams are so much better when you do not need to worry about biting into sand every bite! The prices at Clam Hunter are amazing, especially since they really do have the best clams around. They are also near Bath, just a 2 minute drive into Phippsburg. Def check them out!
