A true sign of being back home, AMOTOS!! Best Italian sandwich ever. I've been eating them for years and can't come to Maine without getting them. The only change is the price. My dad used to pay one dollar and ten cents a sandwich years ago. Back then the owner was in the store and dad would get 20 to 25 sandwiches to take back home. We lived 75 miles from Portland and didn't get there often. Once a year to buy school clothes.

Just live the Italian they absolutely make it the best had a small I swear it was a large any where else. But the flavor is just so yummy. Love it ,love it , love it. My husband had the vegetable pizza it was equally yummy.

I purchased sandwiches for my wife and I at Amatos on India Street in Portland, ME. As usual, the staff was friendly and attentive. The sandwiches were awesome, as usual. This location continually provides top-notch food products. In fact, we often drive out of our way to purchase sandwiches from this particular location as well as another Amatos location in Brunswick, ME. They serve numerous types of sandwiches, pizza, calzones, and pasta meals. As they advertise, they offer the original and only real Italian sandwich!
Kid-friendliness: Store workers are friendly and helpful. Outdoor eating is family-friendly..
Wheelchair accessibility: Store entry and interior floor are even with the sidewalk. Doors open apply to allow entrance by wheelchair.
