Just wanted to grab a sandwich while in town and was delightfully surprised. The sandwich was great and our kids pazzo was also delicious.

Tasty sandwiches. Just order a small, because they are bigger than you think. Worth a stop if you are in Portland via the cruise port.

Not a bad place to stop at. Should keep the old name.

Every time I order from these clowns they mess up the order. Literally every damn time.

Lovely staff at this location. Come here occasionally for lunch. Today I accidentally ordered to the wrong location. They without hesitation whipped up another sandwich for free of charge.

Ordered two pizzas and picked up to go home. Staff were all fine, timing was all fine, shop was fine. My comments refer to the fact that your pizza toppings have dropped off over the 8 years we have been buying. This week there was even less of the good stuff on top of each pie, I think for the increased prices you should review the amount and quality of the topping ingredients

Always a great experience. We went to the Portland, Maine location. The sandwiches are always loaded. Plenty of choices for drinks. Something for everyone.

Came here for the first time to take sandwiches back home to Maryland. Customer service was absolutely awful and rude, and I wish we would have gone to another location.

Racist old white woman at the counter. If you’re a person of color I’d avoid this establishment.

My brown boyfriend walked in to get me a a drink while I waited outside with our dog. We were both sober, honestly just wanted to go back to our hotel with a few drinks and watch a movie.

But he was refused at the counter. When he asked if it was because after a certain time they’re no longer allowed to sell alcohol (around 8:30 pm at the time), she said to him, “No, I just don’t feel comfortable serving you.” To which my boyfriend responded “ok…”, put the drink back, and promptly left the restaurant. Hmm, I wonder why you’re uncomfortable? What assumptions did you make about my boyfriend who just so happens to be brown??

I considered walking in myself to buy the drink but after some reflection don’t think we’ve EVER received this sort of treatment in Portland. I guess there’s a first time for everything.

Amato's is the absolute best sandwich shop franchise if you don't know the local best shop.

I'm originally from Augusta, and there, Whippers was the place for me. But I've since moved to Massachusetts (pity me). So when I sneak back north to Maine, I get Amato's. So good.

Fresh veggies. Great meat. Wonderful service. I get the original with extra black olives (kalamata, not salad). Those pickles are to die for.

Can't go wrong at Amato's.

What a fantastic sandwich shop. Loaded with extras. My only request would be for more salami in my sandwich. Great outdoor patio. Fast service. A neighborhood gem.
