Boda! On a weekend trip up to Maine we stumbled upon this place…. Well we originally had added our name to a wait list at a highly reviewed restaurant across the street and told we had an hour plus wait… and what do you do while you wait.. well you sit at the bar and start enjoying your evening with drinks however, this place didn’t have a bar to sit at.. lost opportunity and missed out on extra $… Nonetheless, we venture across the street to Boda and opt to sit at the bar… because that was the whole point not to wait to be seated at yet another restaurant… we order 2 apps and 2 drinks while we wait… and OMG both apps were good but the mussels! We’re exceptional and the bartender Max gave us a tip on how he prefers to eat them… take the time to remove them all from their shell add the side of sticky rice it comes with to the pot and well, enjoy! It was soo good! We talked about just sitting there and continuing to enjoy the food but because it was our last night we decided to take advantage of being in Portland and keep our next reservation.

We left when the other restaurant said our table was ready, put our hoods and hats on walked in through the rain across the street and was seated.. we were underwhelmed by the menu and the options… before we ordered anything put our coats back on said thank you and walked back to Boda for a proper dinner!

Back at Boda we were welcomed back and seated within 10mins..We tried the wings (another great app) i had more mussels and my BF tired a crab noodle dish which he said was really good as well!

Such a great find for us and really good food!

Great place, friendly service, great food. We got there early (5:30) so now problem getting table. The appetizers are particularly sensational: the bacon wrapped scallop, bacon wrapped asparagus, and duck spring rolls

Stupid favorite place to go for light fare and great cocktails that you don't see everywhere

I love you guys but I’m not sure why your rice balls are so spicy now. Les’s pepper, more sauce. They taste different, and for that price for rice, I expect consistency. ❤️

If you’re in Portland and like Thai, make sure to stop in. We grabbed a late night meal, with some tasty shrimp skewers, and my new favorite meal - Goi Moo. I seriously cannot stop thinking of this dish and plan to try recreating it at home!

Food, atmosphere and service were 5 ⭐️. Go enjoy!

Great Thai food! We were visiting and looking for a good Thai resturant and came to the perfect place. Good customer service and quick food. Started with the dumplings and wings. Dumplings were really good, we wanted more. The wings were crispy and had a really good sauce. For our meals we ordered the Drunked Noodles with Shrimp. It was a little spicy. Overall great experience!

Boda has always been a reliably good take out place for me, and for whatever reason in all this time I’d never dined in! We decided to change that and went in the other day. It was late enough so their had their late night menu and a smaller crowd. Their drunken noodle is good as ever. And for dessert we tried the coconut custard thing instead of the usual thai tea cheesecake..I now have another favorite dessert in town!

I don’t understand why this place is so highly rated. I’ve been here twice; everything is either too salty or very not fresh or both. Grilled pork belly: the pork has an unfresh taste; shrimp confit fried rice: very salty; duck: overcooked and dry; grilled octopus: bitter; side baby bokchoy: salty and undercooked.

Server was nice but that’s it.

Vegetarian options: The Northern Thai Grilled Mushroom Salad (Goi Hed) was delicious and filling. I chose the Level 1 for spiciness and it was just perfect. I have also had the Red Curry Jay before - creamy and tasty, but not heavy. Definitely recommend adding this to your go to list for date nights.

Dietary restrictions: I'd say about 50% of all dishes are GF, but I'm sure the kitchen could accommodate for other dishes if you ask.

This is a take-out review. Well it seems we have dueling Thai restaurants on Congress Street with Boda and Misen within a few hundred feet of each other. Which is better? Well they both have slightly different menus and both do an excellent job with their food authenticity, prep and most important;y taste. Boda seems like the place to dig into a broader selection for a full oin meal with at least six people so you can try a lot on the menu. I had the Woon-sen Pad Thai which had the prawn. pad thai wrapped in a delicate omelette envelope. Superb. THe Khao Soi Gai was well constructed (and delivered in constructable pieces for take out) and very tasty. Red Jay Curry, also superb and feels very authentic. In comparison to Misen, I'd probably go to Misen first for their Beef Kao Soi as their slow cooked beef is to die for. And as Misen calls itself a noodle bar, the offerings for your noodle addiction will be well satisfied there. Either place will totally please you. My problem is trying to stay away from either for more than a week is well nigh impossible. Enjoy!
