As I gazed through the foggy windows of a bustling restaurant, stomach aching for a bite, the breeze whisked me into the entrance of this establishment. I craved the finest and freshest cuisine in Portland, but my pockets disagreed. I found myself within the confines of CBG. As I entered, I was greeted by a handsome young woman with a mustache and unibrow. Her eyes welcomed my withered and battered appetite. She motioned to the wall- hanging above her, the finest of freshly taxidermied wildlife in the area. Ducks, Coyotes, Dogs, cats, bears- you name it. She directed me to a table in the back room. On the table, a perfectly cooked arm. Hairy, vascular, with hand and Rolex still intact. She pulled the chair out for me and as I sat, she whispered in my ear “enjoy mr President”. I was confused, but pleased. And strangely aroused. Steely Dan was echoing over top of Creed as the restaurant speakers struggled to reverb.
Thank you for your service. One day is not enough for you folks. #blackveterans #yummy-arms. Try the macaroni.

I want so much to give this place a good rating. It used to be a great die bar/comfort food joint. Then it was got it and reinvented as a nouveau dive bar/comfort food joint. Seem like a lot of effort went into creating, but they already had but whatever. And it’s not unusual for a place to play music so loudly it screams “eat and go”. The cocktails and Mock-tails seem quite nice. But the food… what to say about the food? When it’s good, it’s fabulous! There’s just no telling when that will, or will not happen. If you offer, homemade, hand, cut fries and potato chips they should always be awesome, otherwise just toss in a bag of Lays and be done with it. Why replace a great burger with the trendy ‘smashed burger-just an excuse to serve an overcooked burger with less meat and less quality? Truffle aioli shouldn’t be some thing you confuse with mayo. Everything that should be a safe, go to, dinneresque choice can’t be trusted. One day it’s the best in town and totally worth sitting there screaming at your next-door neighbor because the music is so loud, and the next your left wondering if the janitors are filling in for the cooks today.

Warm and welcoming pub atmosphere. Open late, the food rocks, and an excellent selection of beers on tap.

5 stars for serving food late and coming in clutch when those late night cravings hit. The food isn’t outrageous and I think it’s a little pricy but given the hardly anything is open late at night in Portland beggars can be choosers. Bacon grilled cheese with the soup can’t be beat.
Parking: Street parking only.

Reading the reviews we had high hopes for CBG . We stopped there on a Wednesday for lunch . Seated fast. Menus . All good , not . That was the best thing I can say . Waitress / bartender was overwhelmed and having a hard time . She came back and we ordered drinks and lunch . 27 minutes later food came out . No drinks or silverware . I almost finished my smash burger ( tasted like a NHL hockey puck ) before my drink arrived . So much for impressing my date . The French fries tasted reheated ? Hard and stale . My dates schnitzel was bathed in a funky sauce . Weird flavor. Coke slaw was long and stringy , perfect if you want to wear mayo on your cheeks . Potatoe salad was just ok . No apologies or explanation from the server. Sadly won’t be back . There are alot of better choices in the area than here .

We stopped at an awkward time “between lunch and dinner” which limited us to a brunch menu which was pretty small and not a lot of things to order.
We had Buffalo wings and egg benedict, and they were good. On the other hand their beer collection is very good.
