Great service & food, as always. If you want to know where the locals go to eat, this is the place.
I have always loved David's 388 and have been going for years. Tonight I was very disappointed in the main course and appetizer both.
Outstanding food and service! Had a spectacular meal with tastes that exceeded every expectation. Best meal ever at very reasonable prices. Thanks again for the hospitality!
We are locals and ALWAYS love going to David's. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Staff is very welcoming and good at their jobs.
Outstanding does not do our evening justice. Great service, great ambiance, superior meal from start to finish. Will go back again and again.
We accidentally booked at the other David’s downtown and these folks got us in right away at 6pm on a Sunday. Amazing service from Lexi, she catered to my husband’s dairy allergy and recommended great substitutes. We had the shrimp, potstickers, and for entrees salmon and haddock. All exceptional. Fast, tasty, quiet dining. Upscale without the pretentious prices or attitude. Made our visit to Portland memorable!

Food was excellent. Dining was delayed. Don't know if kitchen was behind or waitress serving too many tables. Restaurant was busy. Noise level was very high from a table of partying young women.
Small neighborhood restaurant with fantastic food and great service. Perfect place for an anniversary dinner

David's 388 is a must go-to every time that we are in Cape Elizabeth! It never disappoints! Tonight, the salmon was outstanding, and our server had the best sense of humor. A wonderful experience once again!
Kid-friendliness: It's a small, close restaurant. I wouldn't bring children, at least at dinner.

I really wanted to like this place, but was disappointed. My salad was $15 and it looked like it was already half eaten ☹️.

Sat at the chef's table and had a great meal. The seafood pasta was delicious. It's one of my favorites. The lamb chops were great too! Service was friendly and efficient. Our bartender/server, Fay, was fun and professional. We'll be back soon.
Excellent caring service as usual. 388 has no acoustic friendly surfaces but its small size usually leaves it very OK for conversation. This nite there was a table with a couple shrill hi volume voices from people who didn't know they owned them and it disturbed the whole room, but understandably customers aren't going to confront that or ask for help and we didn't either. 388 used to stick to small portions and modest prices per item which encouraged the variety of a meal...appetizer, salad, entre, dessert. There is more focus on the entre now, we preferred it the other way but it won't keep us away.
The server was very friendly and helpful, drinks were generous and overall atmosphere was similar to a neighborhood bar, but the food was far beyond what you would expect in a bar. Parking was a bit of an issue.
Best kept secret in South Portland! Have eaten here about a hundred million times and have NEVER had a bad meal. What I most like is they serve a few staples BUT change how they are served. For instance seared tuna. I have had this dish several times all prepared differently with different accompaniments. My wife is fond of the lamb dishes and the duck. Always have specials, good wine list and I'm told by my son excellent cocktails. After writing this, I'm thinking about going back next week.
