We have been going to this restaurant and the downtown location for 15+ years. Consistently good food, good service and comfortable setting. Our waitress was pleasant and solicitous. Apps, entrees and dessert was a 90- minute experience. Carpaccio was excellent as was my seared tuna and I split an orange crème brûlée. Two parties in our group visiting Maine from our west had seafood pappardelle and the other had the duck. The port trio was terrific with my husband giving the waitress carte blanche with the ports!
Charming little restaurant in South Portland neighborhood. Food is fresh, flavorful and beautifully presented. Open grill area provides wonderful aromas that greet you at the door! Food is always fresh, flavorful and beautifully presented. Desserts to die for! Their blood orange vodka martini is awesome! Staff are always fun, knowledgeable and attentive. This has become one of our favorites!

Another amazing meal at David's 388. Excellent service (as always). The food continues to be delicious and the portion size is perfect which allows you to try enjoy/share appetizers and entrees. Cannot recommend this place enough.

David's 388 is relatively close to our home and is an easy go-to when we want a nice meal out. We recently took a friend visiting from out of town and the food was particularly sublime that night. We feel lucky to have it close by.

Fixed price Valentine's Day dinner. Had a table in one of the front window nooks that made for a quieter dining experience. Lots of choices for apps, entrees, and dessert. The extra touches—champagne, shrimp starter, chocolate strawberries, and rose were appreciated. Made for a nice evening.

David’s is one of our favorites in the whole portland area. It is a cozy welcoming space with fabulous staff who make you feel like you are their only concern. Food is always delicious, interesting and beautifully presented. We used to be locals but alas had to move away… Davids 388 is always on the top of our list when we get back to the area a couple times a year.

I have not been to any of the other David locations, but if they are anything like 388, this guy has the market on good food and service in Portland. We had a large group so we had most of the entrees on the menu. They were all cooked too perfection, served perfectly and most importantly delicious! The wine list will make you happy, the beer list is sorry but again something for everyone. From fish to burgers, they have it right.
We were surprised it was roomier that expected. Brussels sprout app was very good. Entrees were ok but very small portions for the price. Probably would not go back.

I thought the Caesar salad was very tasty but a little skimpy for the price. Other than that, our appetizer and entrees were terrific. Super waitress and cozy environment. I will go back!

We just finished dinner with our friends. We had a reservation and arrived at 455 (first customers). The door opened at 5 and we were seated in a slot next to the door. The space was so small the table was cut to fit chairs. Our chairs were against the walls and the table against our fronts. The plates had to overlap and still over hung the table. Cold, and uncomfortable with the door opening and closing. I did not ask to move because I assumed the other tables were booked. However, when we left tables were open and many tables for 4 had only 2 people seated! The food was great but the seating was very unsatisfactory!

We had a very nice meal but the noise was almost unbearable with a table of seven women being very loud. We know they were just having a good time but were very inconsiderate about being very loud. Our server said she spoke with them but it didn't seem to make any difference to them.
