If you’re considering The Inn at Diamond Cove as your wedding venue — book it. We had a 200+ person wedding with a lot of moving pieces, detailed logistics, transportation planning, and a full weekend of events — and the team at Diamond Cove absolutely delivered from start to finish.

From the very beginning, they were professional, responsive, and truly invested in making sure everything went smoothly. We weren’t planning a simple “show up and get married” day — our wedding involved a ton of coordination, and their willingness to work with us on the details made a massive difference in our overall experience.

We did a full buyout of the inn, and it was hands-down one of the best decisions we made for our wedding weekend. It gave the entire event a private, elevated feel — like we had our own little world for the weekend.

Having our friends and family staying on-site created such a fun, connected atmosphere and made everything easier:
*Guests didn’t need to worry about commuting
*People could relax and stay in “wedding mode”
*The entire experience felt seamless and special

We also hosted our afterparty at the inn, and it was honestly the perfect ending to the night. It was fun, effortless, and convenient — and we loved being able to keep the celebration going without needing to move everyone to another location.

It felt like the venue was designed for exactly this kind of wedding experience: a big celebration, done beautifully, without unnecessary hassle.

If you’re planning a wedding that’s large, detailed, or logistically complex, you want a venue that can truly execute — and The Inn at Diamond Cove absolutely can. We are so grateful we chose them and would recommend them a thousand times over.

Our wedding experience with Colleen and the rest of the team at Diamond’s Edge / Inn at Diamond Cove was so wonderful from start to finish! Months later, guests are still telling us how special and unique the whole experience of attending a wedding on an island felt and the team at the venue was such a huge part of that!

The inn was the perfect place to get ready, so calm, beautiful, and such a lovely environment for the bridal party as a way to set the tone for the day! The team was incredibly helpful with logistics on the day of, including shuttling us to and from the dock and wedding tent, which made the day feel smooth and stress-free.

In the months and weeks leading up to the wedding, the team was so supportive in helping us coordinate details and bring items over to the island as out-of-towners! They answered all of our many questions about the logistics of having a wedding on an island and hosted a lovely tasting with our families at the Portland Harbor during the planning process!

On rehearsal day and wedding day, Colleen and her team ran everything efficiently and seamlessly! The food and signature cocktails were excellent, and we felt so taken care of, as did our guests! The team helped organize pre-ceremony drinks at Diamond's Edge and it was such a special way to welcome our guests!

Great Diamond Island is such a special place, and this team does an incredible job of creating an experience that feels just as magical as the island itself!

We had our Fall 2025 wedding on Great Diamond Island and the day could not have been more perfect! Not only is the setting breathtaking, Colleen and Amber-- who was there from rehearsal through last call on wedding night!-- were truly a dream team to work with. They answered our many questions and made the planning process a breeze. They both anticipated our needs-- we had a draft timeline in our inbox before I could fully wrap my head around making one-- accommodated our preferences (like making sure the bar had our favorite beer from a Maine brewery), and had a sharp eye for detail that made everything look beautiful, run smoothly, and taste delicious.

When plans or timing shifted, Amber was cool as a cucumber and kept things moving along (at the last minute we decided to greet our guests coming off the ferry at the dock and Amber was right behind us with a golf cart to bring us back up to the ceremony site) without ever rushing us and emphasizing that she was there to facilitate the magic. We've heard repeatedly from our guests that it was one of the most beautiful weddings they've been to and we could not be happier with how our day turned out.

Truly, our day was as beautiful as it was thanks to Amber, Colleen, and the entire Diamond's Edge team.

Choosing Great Diamond Island for our wedding was the best choice we could've made!! Colleen and her team were so wonderful, communicative, and helpful from the first time we reached out. They answered all of our (many many) questions quickly, were extremely flexible in ensuring all the details fit our wants and needs, and overall made planning feel low-stress and so exciting. From the tasting weekend to the wedding weekend, we felt so welcome and taken care of. The Inn, restaurant, and wedding staff truly helped us make it our dream day and provided an absolutely incredible experience for our guests.

Beautiful setting but it stops there. Would caution dining there during wedding season and god forbid a night they are hosting a wedding. Restaurant patrons are definitely sacrificed for the wedding event. We dined on a night they hosted a wedding. Table service was painfully slow and although we had a 7pm reservation we missed the 9:30 ferry. That cost us $150 for a private ferry back to the mainland or wait until 11:30 which wa the next ferry option. The food was spotty. I ordered the pork loin and mashed potatoes for $42 but got a broil, dense pork chop and baked potatoes with chunks of under cook celery instead. Cafeteria food. At $42 dollars a plate, those are NYC prices, you do that in NYC and you are out of business by end of the week. Not worth the ferry ride frankly.

I was sorry to read a number of less than good reviews for diamond head, as a recent visit with family and a perfect summers day led to a perfect meal on their beautiful porch. Our server, a local who has spent summers on great diamond Island since he was two years old, stood by the chef while he plated my fried clams and French fries to make sure they arrived perfectly hot and crisp. All of our dishes were delicious, the drinks great, the location fantastic and the service excellent. This is the place to go in summer when family from out of town Comes in or when you want a romantic getaway close to home.

Our group had dinner there last night, everything exceeded expectation except docking. We began with the tiro of appitizer sliders, Haddock, lobster and clams spectaular! I had the brined grilled pork chop, I will order it again, it was grilled to perfection, tender and jucy. Our guests has the fried clams very good and little neck clams over pasta in a delicate sauce that complimented the dish, one of the best we had. We have been eating at Diamond Edge for years, this year the food and service is one of their finest, the setting on the lawn can't be beat. The only downside which management needs to rethink is the Docwa dockage charge of $55.00 which is excessive as their competitors DiMillo's, Island Lobster Company, The Dolphin, offer boaters free docking with dinner. While the food, service and setting are excpetional, management is out of step with their competitors with their docking fee and unfortunatly I will not return or recommend them for the boating crowd untill their docking fee policy changes.

We learned about this place on vacation from another restaurant owner. It was a short ferry ride to get here from Portland. The view it self is worth it! The service could have been a little better- mostly younger kids working during the summer.
But, the drinks and food were amazing! My husband had a lobster with clams- so good and fresh. I had a spicy linguine with clams and mussels- it was so good! The clam chowder was also, very good. Highly recommend coming out to diamond cove, having lunch and exploring the fort. Very cool piece of history.

We arrived about 7pm. We were a large group of 10 plus. Service was friendly but slow and overzealous. The waiter kept pushing drinks on us, asking if we needed more drinks. The appetizers took almost an hour to get. The food came shortly thereafter. My salmon was overcooked, and rice and asparagus were fine. My wife's tuna was two very large portions(too big of portion) and flavourless. By the time the entrees arrived, the night had dimmed. They ran out of table lamps, so they brought us tea lights. We could not see our food! Had we not had such high expectations and the prices, we might have seen this in a different light. The view is beautiful, of course, but that is also the Maine coastline in general and can be seen in many places. Ironically, I had read the posted review on this site from July 2025, and it also had a poor experience. The previous year (2024) had much better reviews. Lastly, for a 2 1/2 hour dinner, we couldn't even order dessert because the service was so slow that we had to rush and pay to get to the ferry back to the mainland. It was a very disappointing experience on many levels. I would not recommend.

Great atmosphere. We’re told they lost our ticket. Waited 90 minutes for our dinner. They offered color pencils to our two children under the age 6, 60 minutes into the wait. Apparently they ran out of food due to wedding parities. We were served leftovers. They said they gave us a discount, but we paid full price. Very unpleasant experience.

This restaurant has a lovey view, but it stops there. We were a party of 5 that had made reservations for 7:15 on a Saturday evening. July 26th. We were celebrating my DIL's birthday, so we wanted it to be special. We waited for our entrees until 8:30 and I kept getting up to check on them. At 8:30 we got up and left without eating a thing. The manager never came to our table to apprise us of the situation, never offered us bread to tie us over, or an apology. Horrible experience. Would not recommend or go back.
