Fun place with homemade pastries! Can be hard to find parking but there's not a wait to order.

Typical breakfast fare in a diner atmosphere. Good, but not great.

Had a spicy chicken biscuit and it was 10/10 - diner atmosphere - great staff and service - price was fair for this insane market too. Only concern was location. I’d advise traveling in packs if you’re going to be walking on Preble Street in Portland.

I was on the hunt for a solo breakfast spot, and I stumbled upon Dutch's while walking around the area after another spot was looking at 45 minutes for a table. I am happy I stopped here, because the food was really good! I found the hashbrowns to be out of this world and the blueberry pancakes to be wonderful. The only downside was the biscuit being fairly dry, but it was still tasty. Seating options are varied with booths, table and bar style seats at the window.

Great home made bread is the center of this establishment. That sets the tone for a great venue especially when you are ordering the Cuban, as I did. All other items ordered were also good. Nice spot to end our 2 day trip

The spicy chicken biscuit and hash browns are simply amazing.
Stopped in for a quick breakfast before work, Perhaps it would be best to place my order before hand as I waited in line with one person in front of me for 15 minutes before my order was taken. I then waited an additional 30 minutes for a breakfast sandwich Which was very basic (I think) bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel. The staff was very friendly and attentive once it was my turn to order however, after waiting 20 minutes with no sandwich, I did return to the counter, and my second visit was not warm and friendly They told me they were very busy and that it should be ready within An additional 10 minutes, which makes 35 minutes at this time for breakfast without even sitting down to enjoy it. I do however, work just a three minute walk from this location so by the time I made it to my desk and open my sandwich to enjoy it I was very disappointed (The bagel was soft and soggy , I bit into an egg shell my first bite And just gave up after) if you are in a time crunch, this is not the place for you! I also suggest if you are looking for food worth the money you’re paying this is not the place I wished I had gone to Dunkin’ Donuts. I would’ve been in and out in 10 minutes and at least the sandwich would’ve tasted better.

A real cafeteria, but with real, made from scratch food! Very retro, fun, and good.

Today I tried dutches and my feedback is truly mixed. Some of the food I had was extremely enjoyable such as the eggs with cheese, chicken sandwich, and pancakes. Other items were just awful such as the breakfast burrito and grits. The restaurant is huge with ample seating but nothing special.

I should have had the breakfast Dutch needs to rethink the tuna melt, better still rethink the entire very limited lunch menu. Even better visit City Bagel in Bangor and if you can’t look at their website for some ideas on food offerings
If you are going to charge premium prices please use premium products the sandwich was lousy

With so many great breakfast spots in town, Dutch’s left us a bit disappointed. The bagel sandwich was just okay, and the grilled cheese with bacon had far too much American cheese (not melted and not gooey) and only two slices of bacon, definitely not what we were hoping for. While the bread was good, it was soggy. The hash browns didn’t have much of a true potato flavor, tasting more like salt and filler than anything fresh.
We understand food is subjective, but given Dutch’s reputation as a local staple, we were expecting more, especially in a city with so many strong diner and bagel shop options.
On the upside, the pastries were fantastic! Not pictured is the donut we grabbed, which was easily the highlight of the visit. Just a heads-up: this is a walk-up counter service spot, and the coffee is not refillable, something to note if you're a morning coffee person.

I love coming here. The lady at the counter is amazing, they have square hashbrowns which are delicious, and their breakfast plates and sandwiches are amazing as well. I came here after I saw Maine Public do a series on breakfast sandwiches and I was not disappointed. Personally I love a nice, plain, egg and cheese on an english muffin and every element is fantastic. Their english muffins are to die for.

My body is 90% Dutchs.
Some southern touchpoints on the menu here and all done really well with good ingredients. If you only go once I'd take a chicken thigh on a biscuit 😉 Fresh baked goods and great hot sauce too...
