Normally closes at one. Puts a sign up on both doors saying ran out of bagels, kitchen closed, but cafe still open until 1. Then when you go in they say they closed early because of the kitchen. Well then if your sign isn't accurate then maybe take it down and not waste people's time? ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
So so delicious. The baked goods are so fresh . I've never had any wilty veg in my sandwich the lettuce is always crisp. Everything can be made on gluten free bread-actually good gluten free bread- and they toast it with butter. It's amazing. The staff is so friendly and chat and wave at my toddler the whole time. Super kid friendly. It's one of my favorite places!
Forage was the perfect stop on our way up to Acadia National Park. They serve good quality coffee and delicious wood fired bagels and bagel sandwiches. They were so good that we stopped by again on the tail end of our trip the day we flew out of Portland to go home.
I called Forage Market in a state of delirious confusion after having been awake for almost 24 hours leading up to placing my takeout order, and immediately prior to the start of my work shift. I didn't know what they had on the menu, I didn't know what I wanted, but I knew that I needed something that would keep me awake, alert, and able to make conscious decisions for an additional 12 hours. The individual on the other end of the line was extremely helpful, and made a thoughtful recommendation about the beverage that would be the most helpful in achieving this goal. This beverage went on to be instrumental in sustaining me through a relatively productive workday. Couldn't have done it without Forage Market.
Best bagels around!
Loved the Breakfast sandwich option ! so yummy def will be back! Very filling, I loved that they had options for me and my (non vegan) boyfriend! Updated from previous review on 2025-05-24
You gotta get the vegan bagel sandwich with cream cheese. So nice to have protein and vegan cream cheese. Their vegan egg is house made and SO good, better than Just egg. They wood fire their bagels in house. Also great coffee, gets pretty busy on the weekends and closes somewhat early so be prepared for that.
Amazing breakfast sandwich

I had an extremely mid breakfast sandwich here. Not worth the price at all. One sad little fried egg on barely toasted bread they couldn’t be bothered to cut in half.

The staff at Forage is the best. The ambience is perfect for the location in the Munjoy Hill neighborhood of DT Portland. It’s crazy busy all the time, because the bagels are THAT good! Fav latte in all of Portland and they have multiple non-dairy options for food and beverages, which gives me life ✨

The vegan breakfast sandwich is great. Prices are very high. Many of the tables are too low to fit a chair and legs under which is awkward. They almost always run out of bagels after the morning rush.

One of my absolute favorite local places, though it's sufficiently hip and trendy that a bagel breakfast sandwich and coffee will easily run you $20. I can get as many calories, and more coffee, for $9 from the Rusty Lantern inside the Irving gas stations, but Forage is notably fancier and the ambience is great. Parking is free and sufficient, and the location is convenient to many other places to see and enjoy in East Bayside / Munjoy Hill.
Kid-friendliness: Well-behaved kids are perfectly welcome here.
