10/10 sushi experience. John made our sushi and my gf from Japan loved it and fully approves.
Try the uni shooters and the oyster shooters! You won’t be disappointed!
Will be back!

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a lovely quiet ambiance. The service was impressively fast, and the food was absolutely fantastic! Having enjoyed a fair share of Japanese cuisine, I can confidently say this was truly exceptional. The strawberry mochi was a standout for me, and with such great quality at a reasonable price, it’s hard to go wrong.

This place was fantastic. Top notch sushi and some of the best chicken katsu I've ever had.

I just turned 16 today and my parents have been bringing me here since I was a toddler. This is my favorite restaurant and I always come here on my birthday. The food is the best I’ve ever had and everyone that works here is so nice. I’d definitely recommend it 😇

Great food, great prices and a beautiful outdoor dining area. Love the VIP boat! The owner is not a nice person but makes good food.

Love this place because it's close to home. But I went there and. The open sign was on. Along with the side on the door and I said open. They really need to. Put all the signs off. When in there to get food, just to be told they were closed.
Awesome restaurant! Prices are fair given its sushi and in the middle of the city. Food is always good and authentically made. My favorite part is always the smile and warm welcome of the owner who prepares the sushi at the sushi bar. He is a gem.
My only recommendation would be to update the interior of the restaurant. It looks a bit dilapidated and could use a refresh for sure.

Most underrated sushi spot in Portland. The sushi is always fresh with large portions. The wait staff are the best and John Wayne knows his fish.

Came here for the lunch and was not disappointed!! I saw another review that said that it isn’t busy on weekdays at lunchtime and they were correct. I actually liked the peaceful setting. The restaurant is nicely decorated and accompanied by tranquil traditional japanese instrumentals that quietly play in the background. When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile from both the waitress and the man at the sushi bar (I believe this is the cook). I got the tuna avocado roll, the queen roll and yellowtail with scallions roll. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the Queen Roll. The grilled scallops were such a nice touch!! The waitress and the man making the sushi were very nice and accommodating. You can tell that they enjoy what they do because it reflects in the quality of the food and the service. I will definitely be returning one day!! :)

This has been one of my favorite places to go since I first went there in college a few years ago. There are SO MANY options, and everything I have had there has been extremely good. The people who (I assume) own the place are really friendly and sweet, too. It’s fairly affordable for a meal, and very affordable for the area of Portland.
Vegetarian options: They had vegetable specials, and plenty of the sushi choices are vegetarian

Nice wait staff and quality fish. Only problem is some of the sushi chefs are very amateur. I got an uramaki style roll and the rice and nori was falling all over the place. Even a couple of nigiri were having crumbling rice. Again, the fish was fresh, but you’re better of with a bento box of sashimi plate. The sushi was an utter let down. Don’t let the “best sushi in town” sign fool you. Especially sense this place is charging the same prices. Go to Yosaku or Benkay instead.

The place isn't busy during the weekday lunchtime. We got 2 yellow tail rice wrapped in a seaweed cone. 2 Ohtoro sushi pieces and one spicy tuna roll and Alaska Salmon sushi. Definitely recommend the Alaska salmon sushi and yellow Hamachi Temaki and Ohtoro sushi. The three were fresh and really good. The spicy tuna was OK. The roll wasn't packed tightly. Service was quick.

Not a big fan of the sushi, but since this place is basically right around the corner from my current living situation and the place is very popular with the locals, I’m gonna give it a try one of the days soon. I will do a FULL review at that time.
Best Japanese in Maine I've had (been here a couple years now)
